Louisville’s BCS scenarios

Orange Bowl   Sugar Bowl

By Justin Renck:

This is a great “problem” to have. Orange Bowl or Sugar Bowl? Those are the 2 most likely destinations for the Louisville Cardinals after last night’s incredible win at Rutgers. And of all teams to decide where we probably end up, it will be Kent State. The same Kent State team that lost to Kentucky 47-14! That was their only loss of the season, and now their game tonight against Northern Illinois will determine where the Cards end up. Let me explain…

Duke’s backup QB talking smack???

By Justin Renck:

So this came from the BACKUP QB for DUKE FOOTBALL! Yes, this is the backup QB for a 6-6 team, and he is flexing his twitter muscles! He tweeted this shortly after the Cards beat Rutgers on Thursday night! I apologize for the language!

A message from Kyle Kuric

Update on the Charlie Strong/Auburn rumors!

This is posted on Auburn’s 24/7 site. Very interesting! This is the guy who first reported that Charlie Strong had a phone conversation with Auburn. Now read what he says.

Sorting out the Charlie Strong story

 PhillipMarshall

  • It’s been a crazy last hour.

First, a story broke that Auburn had interviewed Louisville coach Charlie Strong. In response, I made a call and was told it wasn’t an interview but a telephone conversation. I quickly reported that here. Then, I was told that maybe it had been a search firm that reached out to Strong, which is an entirely different thing than even a telephone conversation. One thing that is certain is that there was no conversation with athletics director Jay Jacobs.

Strong has denied having any contact at all. His team plays Rutgers for the Big East championship on Thursday night.

The bottom line is this: Strong has not been interviewed in any true sense of the word. He is on Auburn’s list of candidates. He might yet be interviewed.

Sorry for the craziness and the confusion.

Louisville is in the ACC!!!

By Justin Renck:

FINALLY!!! It is a celebration and also a sigh of relief! The sigh of relief is because of what we are getting out of, and the celebration is because of what we are getting into!

Now I am not going to get into too many facts like TV ratings, conference votes, and all of that stuff. Just going to give my opinion on the situation.

UK fans turning star recruit away??

By Steve Rummage:

2014 5* SG JaQuan Lyle instagrammed this gem from someone in BBN. Most believe that for Lyle, it will come down to a 3 team race between UofL, UK, and IU. This can’t help UK’s chances, right?

Tulane and East Carolina to the Big East

By Justin Renck:

I will start off by saying that I do not think this will matter to Louisville when it happens, but since we are currently in the Big East, it is still news.

Tulane and East Carolina will be joining the Big East. Yes, the Green Wave and Pirates that we thought we left behind in C-USA are chasing us again. They will both join in 2014, with Tulane joining in all sports and ECU as a football-only member.

That would put the Big East at 13 schools, with 9 being former Conference USA members, 2 former Mountain West schools, and 1 former school from the MAC.

Like I said, I honestly don’t believe this will even matter to UofL. I won’t say more than that right now because I really can’t. I just have a lot of confidence :-)

Purdue Commit Visiting the Cards

By Steve Rummage:

Purdue Commit DT Kyle Shortridge (FL) will make an official visit to Louisville next weekend.  Shortridge recently took an official to Nebraska back on September 1st and most believe he will end up in Lincoln or Louisville. The 6’2 270 lb (Did I mention he runs a 4.8 40) Shortridge is rated a 3 Star DT by most sites but is one Strong and company have had their eye on for awhile and would add some much needed size to Louisvilles DL. And yes CardNation Kyle is on twitter @ShortDog99 so give him a shout and let him know we want him on the train.

Wrist-gate 2012

By Justin Renck:

Well it has not been the best weekend if you are a UofL fan (which I assume you are if you are reading this). Of course I am talking about football and men’s basketball, not all of our sports (Volleyball hosting NCAA and Men’s Soccer victory were great of course).

Louisville Bowl Projections

After Saturdays 23-20 3OT loss to UCONN the Cards fell to 9-2 on the year. While the last two loses have been quite frustrating the Cards still sit in great position and a win Thursday night at Rutgers will give them a share of the Conf. Title and a trip to their 2nd BCS game. The most likely destinations for the Cards will be in New Orleans (Sugar) or Miami (Orange) either of which will be great spots for a young talented team to gain some exposure and set up for a top 15 return in 2013-2014. So lets take a look at where the national media has the Cards:
