Men’s Basketball: Miami (OH) has local star on their team
By Justin Renck:
When the Miami (OH) Redhawks come to town today, they will bring with them a former runner up for Mr. Kentucky Basketball! Josh Sewell wears #1 and is a 6’5 junior from right here in Louisville, KY. He played his high school ball at Trinity, and was a two-time all-state selection. He is Trinity’s all-time leading scorer with 1,485 points and was the 7th Region Player of the Year his senior season. Also as a senior, he averaged 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists per game.
As a freshman at Miami (OH), Sewell played in 31 of their 33 games, starting twice. He averaged 3.1 points and 1 rebound in 10.2 minutes per game. As a sophomore, he started in 13 games and averaged 6.3 points and 2.2 rebounds in 19.9 minutes per game.
SEWELL’S CAREER HIGHS:
Points: 20 vs. Ball State, 2-1-11
Rebounds: 11 at Saginaw Valley, 11-21-11
Assists: 3, twice, last at Western Michigan, 1-28-12
Steals: 3 vs. Wright State, 12-10-11
Blocked Shots: 2 at Ohio, 1-21-12
Minutes: 38 vs. Kent State, 2-16-11
So remember to show the local kid some love! (As long as we are winning of course!)
