Daryl’s Season Forecast: Hei5man

By: Daryl Foust

The Cardinals have received a lot of criticism for their ‘weak schedule’ for the 2013 season following an obvious dominance of the Florida Gators in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.  No, it is no SEC schedule where we will be playing top 25 teams every week, however, the Cards will have their work cut out for them this upcoming season. I believe this year’s schedule is much tougher than our last in the Big East.  No offense BBN, but Kentucky lowered the SOS for the Cardinals last year along with teams like Missouri State and Connecticut (which was a 3OT loss).  After it was all said and done, Teddy Bridgewater finished the season with a 68% completion percentage, a 4% increase from the previous season and lowered his interceptions from 12 to 8.  He also completed 62% of his passes against who Yahoo Sports considers the 3rd best defense of the 2012 season, only behind the two teams who played for the national championship.

CardNation Speaks: The Finale (CSZ Version)

100_0488

This week is the week we all have been waiting for……College Football. The feeling in the air, the sound of the big hits and the adrenaline rush from big plays are all things I have been anticipating since I left New Orleans. This week I sat down and thought to myself, do people want to see the same stories on all the blogs or do they want to see something different, their story? I started to email, text and DM some of the most knowledgeable members of CardNation I know. One by one they answered back and it made for some really good stories. Today I thought I would try something different for the series but yet the same really. People forget at times that some of the biggest fans of the University of Louisville are us, the members of CSZ. So to cap off the series we will bring you the thoughts Justin ( @JRVille25 ), Steve ( @Stiz_CSZ ), Paige ( @PaigeS_502 ), Daryl ( @Darylfoust4 ) and myself ( @Jeremy_CSZ ). We hope you have enjoyed this series as much as we have.

Thanks CardNation & Enjoy!

2013-14 UofL Women’s Basketball Schedule

1wbb1

Today the University of Louisville released the 2013-14 Women’s Basketball schedule……Florida State, WKU and UK make up the tough Non-Conference schedule and UCONN twice makes up the tough Conference games. It is my opinion that the WBB program was hit hardest by conference realignment as it will no longer play top 25 teams every week. The AAC Women’s tournament will be played at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut Click below for more details and the full season schedule.

Three offensive players to watch for Ohio

Ohio Bobcats

When the Ohio Bobcats come into Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium on Sunday, they will certainly bring experience at the skill positions. They also likely will not bring nervousness with them, as they opened last season on the road at Penn State and won 24-14. This is an experienced team that went 9-4 last season (started 7-0) and beat Louisiana-Monroe in the Independence Bowl. They return their quarterback, top running back who rushed for over 1,600 yards (WOW), and top wide receiver. Let’s take a look at those guys.

CardNation Speaks: 2013 Opener (Part 4)

100_0401

So this week we have been doing a series called CardNation Speaks. I wanted to do a game week story about what you all were feeling about Sunday and what was your favorite gameday rituals or things to do. I have been telling you guys that one thing that I pride myself in is staying completely interactive with CardNation. I follow everyone back on Twitter, answer every question, and talk to everyone no matter what time of the day I get hit with a random DM on twitter. I feel like that’s important, and a part of what sets us apart from a majority of the other sites out there. I wanted to do a game week story about what you all were feeling about Sunday and what was your favorite gameday rituals or things to do. I DM’d several people that I converse with the most and asked for their input. I hope you guys enjoy reading what everyone thought. I will be releasing these every day this week so email me at @JSWahman723@aol.com if you want to be a part of it. Todays participants include: @kevinwatson73 @OutkastCard   @TWILL322 @ray_calhoun  @MooreOfKaitlyn & @WolfBitCardinal

College Football’s Week 1 games for the top 10

Closeup of American Football on Field

As we all know, if the Louisville Cardinals have any shot at the prestigious National Championship game, they will obviously have to go 12-0 and have teams in front of them lose a game or two. So with the Cards starting the season ranked 9th, I am going to take a look at the schedule for week 1 for teams in the top 10, just so you know what games to keep an eye on this weekend. I am using the USA Today Poll since that is the one that matters in the BCS formula.

Lorenzo Mauldin was at practice Wednesday

Lorenzo Mauldin

Just a quick update on junior defensive end Lorenzo Mauldin. He did attend practice this evening but did not participate too much. He said that he will leave it up to the trainers on whether or not he plays this Sunday, but he feels like he can step in and help. He says he will invest in a car and never ride a moped again. Mauldin also said he feels like the luckiest guy on Earth, and he did acknowledge the support from the fans, saying he loves them as much as God.

2013-14 Men’s Basketball Roster

IMG_0271

This was the scene as last year ended with the ultimate prize, the National Championship. This year should be no different. The loss of Siva and Dieng will be big shoes to follow. The additions of Jones, Gill, Rozier and Agau and maturation of guys like Mango, Montrezl, Kevin, Wayne, Chane Luke and Russ are pivotal to any success that comes. New names means new numbers and today the University of Louisville released the Jersey assignments for the upcoming season. Baumann, Bond & Baffour are not on that list as of now. “Wayne has decided to get into the coaching ranks,” said UofL head coach Rick Pitino. “He’ll be living with our players in Billy Minardi Hall this year, mentoring them off the court. There’s no better person to do that as he played in three straight Final Fours and won two national championships.”
