List of coaching candidates for Louisville football

Tom Jurich

LLoyd Spence, the host of Talkin Noiz on 1080 AM radio, just revealed an updated list of the top candidates for the head coaching position for the University of Louisville football team. He says he did his homework and these are the guys. And trust me, this “homework” is legit. In no particular order, here is the list as of right now, and of course, things can change:

Bobby Petrino– head coach at Western Kentucky, you know about him and don’t need background info.

Rich Rodriguez– head coach at Arizona. Most recently head coach at Michigan and West Virginia.

Chad Morris– offensive coordinator at Clemson. He has been there for the last 3 seasons and has had some impressive offenses.

Pat Narduzzi– defensive coordinator at Michigan State. He has been there since 2007 and led one of the top defenses in the country this season.

Derek Mason– defensive coordinator and Associate Head Coach at Stanford.

Vance Bedford– defensive coordinator at Louisville. Will follow Charlie Strong to Texas if he does not get the job at UofL.

Jim McElwain– head coach at Colorado State. Was Louisville’s special teams coordinator and wideout coach from 2000-2002. Alabama offensive coordinator from 2008-2011. Took over a 4-8 Colorado State team and led them to 8-6 this season.

Shawn Watson– offensive coordinator at Louisville. Some fans unhappy with his offense this season. WDRB’s Eric Crawford made great points in this article that his offense was a reflection of what Charlie Strong wanted, not necessarily what Watson wanted to do.

*Here is another name to look out for that you probably have not heard yet: Mark Richt, head coach at Georgia. I will just keep it at that for now.
