UofL Football fans can catch a glimpse of a promising future tonight at 6 pm on ESPN2. Signees Robert Hicks III and Chandler Jones will play in the Under Armour All-America game at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL.

Hicks is a highly touted ILB who looks physically ready to step in and play a big role for UofL next year. He is a physical beast with great instincts and speed to burn. Hicks is a triple threat because he can play zone coverage, rush the passer, and be a wall through which no opposing RB can pass. UofL can definitely use him with the departure of Stacy Thomas.

Jones is a shut down CB who will likely play a key role in UofL’s secondary with the departures of CBs Jaire Alexander and Trumaine Washington. Jones has good size, he can bully WRs, and he’s not afraid to tackle RBs. However, his greatest gift is staying stride for stride with WRs and breaking up or intercepting passes.

It appears both the UofL signees are having a strong showing so far. Some of the coaches at the practices for the game specifically mentioned Jones and Hicks when talking of impressive players per Gerry Hamilton of ESPN.com.

Tune in tonight and see these two young men display their talents. I think you’ll like what you see and feel really good about the defense’s future with these players in the fold for UofL.
