Tomorrow is College Football National Signing Day and it is an important one for the Cards. Bobby Petrino hasn’t had much time but looks to sign a very strong class down the stretch. With the exception of WR DeSean Blair we expect all the Cards commits to sign tomorrow as planned.
While the commits seem firm there will be some more names and announcements to keep and eye on:
4* LB Sharieff Rhaheed will announce tomorrow at 8 a.m. between Louisville, Michigan St., Missouri, and Arkansas
3* DE Grant Harris will announce at 9 a.m. between Louisville and Mississippi St.
4* JUCO DT Dalvon Stuckey will announce at 9 a.m. between Louisville and ASU
3* WR Cornelius Sturghill (Wisconsin Commit) will announce at 9:30 p.m. between Louisville and Wisconsin
4* WR Isaiah Ford will announce at 2 p.m. between Louisville, Va. Tech, South Carolina, and Florida
3* WR DeSean Blair will announce at 9 a.m. between Louisville, Nebraska, and Missouri
3* LB Isaiah Riddle will announce at 12 p.m. between Louisville, Ok St, Memphis, Kansas St, and Hawaii
These aren’t the only names to watch tomorrow just the ones with timed announcements. We will update throughout the day if more times are announced.
This week…..on 55…..
Once again I figured on having a pretty uneventful week. Name a new coach, get our recruits lined up and on board with the new staff and carry on. Boy was I wrong. In this weeks 55 I have so much info I may not be able to put a lot of pictures in, or joke on Shawn during the monologue. (Sorry Pal) From Old friends to new ones and commitments given and taken away, this has been quite the week. So sit down and buckle up because this week’s episode is sure to take you on an emotional roller-coaster of a ride.
So once again, I share with you the 55 most ridiculous things I have heard, had to debate, or just thought about this past week. This is….55
1) Poona Ford de-committed
2) Chris Nelson de-committed
3) BOTH are now considering Texas
4) Thanks Charlie…..glad you are not cut like that
6) Sorry Charlie……
7) George Rushing de-committed from the Cards also as well as Isaiah Ford….hopefully both can find their way back home to the ‘Ville
8) It has been rumored that current Purdue U (PU for short) RB Dalyn Dawkins may be trying to find his way back home. It was a shame that Charlie didn’t recruit the in-state kids more than he did. More on this later…
9) He stated in an interview after being hired at Texas that he was glad to be in a state that has talent to recruit….or something along those lines. Classy move Chuck
10) Almost as classy as what he says during the following interview…..
12) Yep you heard him right, he was job hunting before our bowl game….SMH Read the rest of this entry
Anytime a head coach moves on to another job, the recruiting class becomes an issue. Will players follow him, stay committed to the school, or open their recruitment back up? We will see how this all plays out with the current class for Louisville, but some guys have already made their decisions.
3-star players Isaiah Ford and Kavaris Harkless have already de-committed from the Cards. Harkless is an offensive lineman and is expected to be enrolled at the University of Florida on Monday. Ford is a two-star athlete who planned on also being a walk-on for the basketball team. He is a wide receiver on the football field. It is expected that he will end up at Virginia Tech.
4-star defensive back Nilijah Ballew says he is still committed, but is just waiting to see who will be hired. He is “upset, confused, and stressed.”
Regardless of what class of football you play in, if you are the Player of the Year in high school football in Florida, you are doing something right. Louisville commit Isaiah Ford was named the Class 3A Player of the Year and is a finalist for Mr. Football for the whole state. There are 8 finalists, 1 from each class. Check out the full article here.
Ford finished the season with 37 catches for 719 yards and 12 touchdowns and he accounted for 1,067 all-purpose yards and 17 touchdowns. Virginia Tech is trying to make a late push to land Ford, but it sounds like Louisville should be able to hold onto him, and he will likely be a big-time playmaker for the Cards. Look for this 2-sport athlete to also try to play basketball for Coach Pitino.
The football Cards will have some important Visitors on campus this weekend. The Cards will have four current Commits in town as well as one big time level Junior College player. Among the commits this weekend will be 4* WR Isaiah Ford, 3* OL Kavaris Harkless, 3* RB LJ Scott, and 3* WR Cameron Polk. Scott and Polk are both looking to possibly enroll early in January while Ford and Harkless are getting a last look at the Louisville campus before decided whether to stick with the Cards or listen to other offers. While it looks as both Ford and Harkless will stick with the Cards Virginia Tech (Ford) and Florida (Harkless) have made strong moves in the last few months to sway the Louisville Commits, so this visit is key.
Along with the Commits the Cards will host the #1 rated weak side DE Trevon Young. The 6’4 225 lbs Young is playing his JUCO ball at Iowa Wesleyan where last season he recorded 44 tackles and 13 sacks. Young recently took a visit to Ole Miss and after this weekend will make his decision between the Cards, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Iowa.
The Cards may be on the bye week, but there are still things to be excited about on this Saturday, and one of those is the future of Cardinal football! This post is all about seeing how a few 2014 UofL commits did in their games on Friday night. These guys put up some big numbers! And another important stat: all of their teams won! It is a big thing if you can recruit kids that are used to winning.

4* Louisville WR commit Isaiah Ford will be on the UofL campus this weekend to check out the Ville. Ford has been making his rounds checking out different campuses along the way but seems very excited to get to the school he plans to call home in the near future. Ford is a dynamic WR that may be the most talented prospect in a loaded 2014 class for the Cards. Ford will arrive on Louisville’s campus this weekend but he will not be alone. Fords Trinity Christian team is loaded with 2015 talent and they will also be taking in all the beautiful city of Louisville has to offer. Here is a short run down of those players:
6’2 4* WR Picked the Cards over offers from Arkansas, Clemson, Florida, Florida St, Michigan St, Ohio St, Oregon, South Carolina and MANY more. Ford is also an extremely talented basketball player averaging 26 points a game last season. Follow Ford on Twitter @Isaiah_Ford3
