UofL sports weekend outlook

The Big East tournament for most fall sports is less than a month away. With that said, this weekend is set to host a variety of Louisville sporting events as teams look to improve upon their records and conference standings. Louisville football (5-0) is set to open Big East play this Saturday as they travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Panthers. Louisville looks to avenge a 21-14 lost last year to Pittsburgh and improve upon their 1-6 record in Big East openers since joining the league. UofL Baseball expects a big season

Hard to believe, but it is that time of year again: it’s college baseball season! And in 2012, the Cards have big expectations. They are ranked in several preseason polls, and are ranked as high as 15th to start this season. In Coach Dan McDonnell’s first 5 seasons with the Cards, they have missed the postseason only once, and that was last year, after going 32-29 on the season. So after their first disappointing season in 5 years, why are expectations so high? Well, UofL has 19 letterwinners returning, so there is experience coming back. Also, the Cards signed a recruiting class that the Collegiate Baseball newspaper ranked 11th in the country.
