This weekend the Cards did exactly what was expected of them. They took care of business. The Cards are heading to their fifth NCAA Super Regional in last nine years (’07, ’09, ’13, ’14, ’15). The Cards destroyed Michigan 13-4 behind a great day from Sophomore Josh Rogers. The Cards pitched very well the entire weekend. Funkhouser got out of his funk, McKay was golden and the bullpen was solid with good efforts from Henzman, Harrington and Burdi to name a few. The unsung hero, Devin Hairston (not Hair-a-ston ESPN guys) won Most Outstanding Player for the Louisville Regional and McKay, Rogers, Hairston, Solak, Taylor all made the All-Regional team. The Cards have won 10 straight post-season games at Jim Patterson after yesterday. We will host perennial power-house Cal St Fullerton. We do not know what days and times we are playing but here is what we do know: (Spoiler alert: Still can’t bring guns or fireworks in. Was hoping they listened to my appeal)
So the Louisville Cardinals have certainly welcomed themselves into the ACC neighborhood in nearly every sport this season. Baseball has been no exception at all. After setting the record for most conference wins in an ACC season with 25, the Cards were rewarded on Monday afternoon when the regular season awards were announced.
Check out the awards. Just a little bit of Louisville flavor.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Matched against long-time rival Kentucky for the first time outside the regular season, the top-seeded Louisville baseball team continued its trend of postseason success with a 4-1 win in Sunday night’s NCAA Regional title game at Jim Patterson Stadium.
In a game delayed nearly four hours due to lightning and rain, the Cardinals (48-15) plated three runs in a pivotal seventh inning to win its fourth NCAA Regional in the last eight years under the direction of head coach Dan McDonnell. With the victory, Louisville will host an NCAA Super Regional for the second time in school history when the winner of the Alabama-Kennesaw State matchup in Monday’s finale at the Tallahassee Regional (noon ET) visits Jim Patterson Stadium. The best-of-three series will begin either Friday or Saturday with the complete schedule to be released by the NCAA on Tuesday.
