According to Evan Daniels of Scout.com Rick Pitino is in South Carolina to see top target Perry Dozier tonight.
This makes the second time in a month that Pitino has been down to see Dozier making it clear he is the Cards guy. Dozier will be in Louisville for the FSU game on an official visit. A commitment from Dozier would solidify the best class Pitino has ever had at Louisville.
Recruiting is a crazy thing. Just a couple of weeks ago, the Cards had a commitment from 5-star Antonio Blakeney and had backed off of 6’6 combo guard Perry Dozier. You know the story: Blakeney decommits, and the Cards try to get back in the mix for Dozier. Rick Pitino and Kenny Johnson spent Wednesday evening giving Dozier an in home visit, and it certainly paid off. Dozier had 4 official visits lined up and had 1 more opening, and he will use that for a trip to UofL’s campus.
It looks like P.J. Dozier is definitely back in the mix to get the last spot in the 2015 class that Antonio Blakeney had for a solid 11 days. We knew that the Cards would be interested in him again, but would he listen to them? Well that question has been answered, and it’s yes. Next Wednesday, Rick Pitino will make the trip to South Carolina to have an in-home visit with Dozier and his family, Steve Jones of the Courier-Journal writes.
The in-home visit will determine if Louisville gets one of Dozier’s five official visits in the next few weeks. Right now, four of them are already set: Michigan (Sept. 26), North Carolina (Oct. 3), Georgetown (Oct. 17), and South Carolina (Oct. 24).
This is from the article:
Well Rick Pitino will still be hosting a big-time recruit on Labor Day Weekend, but just not the one we expected. Perry Dozier was supposed to be making an official visit, but he has pushed back all of his visits and will likely check out UofL on October 3rd. However, 5-star shooting guard Antonio Blakeney will be on campus this weekend at UofL.
247 Sports just updated their rankings for basketball recruits in the class of 2015. The Louisville Cardinals have all 3 of their commits in the top 30 overall.
Raymond Spalding made the biggest leap of any of the future Cards, jumping up 59 spots from #80 to #21 overall. He also was upgraded to a 5-star player. He was previously a 4-star.
Perry Dozier (Class of 2015) is a 6’6 guard from Columbia, South Carolina. He is listed as a shooting guard and a point guard, depending on what site you look at. He is a 5-star player on both ESPN and 247, and a 4-star player on Rivals and Scout.
He just released his top 5 schools, and Louisville made the cut along with North Carolina, Georgetown, South Carolina, and Michigan. He says he will take official visits to all 5 schools. *UPDATE* Per multiple outlets Dozier will visit Louisville August 31st. (Week of the Miami game)
