Cardinal News & Notes: Weekend Preview

It is another busy weekend in Cardinal athletics. As always, CSZ has you covered with the upcoming schedule. There is basketball, the start of softball, Big East Diving Championships, and more. Check it all out here!

Friday

*Softball– The 25th ranked Cardinals start their season today in Miami, FL at Florida International’s Combat Classic. It will be held Friday-Sunday. Today, the Cards play Michigan St. at 1:00 and Illinois at 5:00. UofL was picked to finish 4th in the Big East this season in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

*Swimming & Diving– The diving team for the Cards is in Pittsburgh, PA for the Big East Diving Championships. This is also Friday-Sunday.

*Track & Field– The Cards will compete at the Hoosier Hills meet in Bloomington, IN. This is the last competition before the Big East Indoor Championships.  

Saturday

*Softball– The Cards continue play in Miami, FL and will face UAB at 9:00 a.m. and Florida International at 11:00 a.m.

*Men’s Basketball– The 24/23 ranked Cards (19-5, 7-4) travel to Morgantown to face West Virginia (16-9, 6-6) at noon on ESPN. Full CSZ preview coming later.

*Women’s Basketball– The 20/17 ranked Cards (17-7, 6-5) will host Syracuse (15-10, 4-7) at 2:00 at the KFC Yum! Center. Fans are encouraged to wear pink for Breast Cancer Awareness. Survivors can receive 2 free tickets by calling Jonathan Butler at (502) 852-7254. Tickets are $2 a piece for groups of 10 or more.

*Tennis– The women’s team takes on Furman at noon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The men’s team takes on Clemson at 5:00 at home as well. Admission is free!

*Swimming & Diving– Continue the Big East Diving Championships in Pittsburgh, PA.

Sunday

*Softball– The Cards will finish up play in Florida International’s Combat Classic. They face UMass at 9:00 a.m.

*Swimming & Diving– The Big East Diving Championships conclude in Pittsburgh, PA.
