Football: Cards pick up big committment from Tampa, FL WR/DB

Richard Benjamin 2

By Justin Renck:

Richard Benjamin, a 6’1 wide receiver/defensive back from Tampa, Florida, verbally committed to the Cards last week, but it wasn’t quite official. Anyone can commit to a school, but the coaching staff has to approve and accept it before it becomes official. With Benjamin scheduled to make a visit to campus this weekend, the coaching staff just wanted to wait and see how that went. Apparently, it went well enough, and now Richard Benjamin is apart of the 2013 class for the Louisville Cardinals.

Rivals.com has him as a 3* and ranked as the 49th best wide receiver in the state of Florida. Although he is committed to the Cards, check out this impressive (major understatement) list of schools that Benjamin has offers from. I will just list the biggest ones: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami (FL), Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, USC, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Cincinnati, Clemson, Kentucky, Michigan State, NC State, and Rutgers. And like I said, there are more than that, but those are the biggest names.

Charlie Strong was able to get a guy to commit to Louisville when he has those kinds of offers? WOW!

Here are his Junior year highlights

Here is a shorter video of highlights from a game this past season
