Daryl’s Season Forecast: Hei5man

By: Daryl Foust

The Cardinals have received a lot of criticism for their ‘weak schedule’ for the 2013 season following an obvious dominance of the Florida Gators in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.  No, it is no SEC schedule where we will be playing top 25 teams every week, however, the Cards will have their work cut out for them this upcoming season. I believe this year’s schedule is much tougher than our last in the Big East.  No offense BBN, but Kentucky lowered the SOS for the Cardinals last year along with teams like Missouri State and Connecticut (which was a 3OT loss).  After it was all said and done, Teddy Bridgewater finished the season with a 68% completion percentage, a 4% increase from the previous season and lowered his interceptions from 12 to 8.  He also completed 62% of his passes against who Yahoo Sports considers the 3rd best defense of the 2012 season, only behind the two teams who played for the national championship.

I look for Teddy to be the man to watch this season, I don’t care who you are.  Even though we know BBN is scared of ‘TD’ Bridgewater, I think they are secretly rooting for him and his career after he finishes his career with the Cards, which you know they hope is sooner rather than later.

Come Sunday, the players will brush the statue of the only player to ever have his number retired at the University and a legend at the professional level, “The Golden Arm” Johnny Unitas.  And while it may not be a gold trophy, I expect Teddy to become the first player for the university to receive the bronze award and complete his legacy here as ‘Hei5man’.
