55

This week on 55…………

We talk Basketball watch party. We talk big win over Notre Dame. We talk ranked teams and end of seasons. I will share a story of my trip to Notre Dame, a gallery of the trip and more tidbits as we go. We talk kentucky football and much, much more. So without further adieu, get ready for the ride. Without further interruption, here are the things from this week that stood out to me the most. The most ridiculous, interesting and factual things I came across. This is 55……….

1st Quarter:

Cardinal Head

I am darn proud to fly the flag of the Cards after an impressive 31-28 win over Notre Dame at historical Notre Dame Stadium. Reggie Bonnafon came up huge scoring the games first 2 TD’s and throwing for one to Devante Parker. Brandon Radcliff continued his dominance and ran for 136 yards and 1 TD. Bonnafon had 67 yards and 2 TD’s and Dyer added 68 yards rushing. Bonnafon also threw for 180 yards and a TD despite only going 8-21 and an INT. Devante had 4 catches for 65 yards and a TD ending his hot streak even though he got 65 yards after being doubled most of the game. Kai De La Cruz added 2 catches for 70 yards including a huge 3rd down conversion. T Floyd had 8 tackles and Keith Kelsey had 6 including a sack. Charles Gaines had 1 INT and Holliman was shut out but wasn’t thrown at much. James Burgess added a sack and Deangelo Brown’s sack on a key 3rd down that pushed the Irish out of makeable FG range. Clearly the Defensive play of the game. The Cards face uk Saturday at noon.

The Women’s Volleyball team dropped 2 this week to Duke and UNC bringing their record to 15-14 overall. This has been a transition season for the Cards that has been full of tough love but will only make us better. The team concludes their regular season vs Pitt on Wednesday at 4 on ESPN3 at Cardinal Arena.

Cross Country:

Greater Louisville Classic

(From GoCards.com)

University of Louisville’s Edwin Kibichiy and Ernest Kibet wrap up an impressive cross-country season finishing 23rd and 32nd respectively at the NCAA Championships on Saturday afternoon Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind.

The redshirt sophomore, Kibichiy clocked at time of 30:44.7 to finish in 23rd place, in his national championship debut. Kibet, a junior, clocked a time of 30:50.8 to finish in 32nd place, a 112-place improvement from his national championships debut in 2013.

By finishing in the top 40 Kibichiy and Kibet became the school’s fourth and fifth All-American in cross-country (Tyler Byrne, 2013, Cory Thorne, 2007 and 2009; Wesley Korir, 2007).

Men’s Soccer:

Soccer

The Cards overcome a 1-0 deficit to defeat Saint Louis 2-1 in the round of 32 at Lynn Stadium. The cards trailed 1-0 in the 67th minute once Saint Louis’s Francisco Vizcaino knocks in the header. It didn’t take UL long to respond once Andrew Brody scored the tying goal just 2 minutes and 49 seconds later. With about 4 minutes left in the match Tim Kubel knocked in the game winner sending the Cards into the sweet 16 Sunday at Lynn Stadium. The Cards avenged a loss from earlier in this season. The Cards were looking forward to the Sweet 16 matchup against #4 Maryland whom they beat earlier in the season. Not so fast my friend. UMBC upset Maryland and will travel to Louisville for a shot at the Elite 8.
