Bobby Petrino has always been good about keeping the local talent here in town. He did that again yesterday when 3-star defensive lineman Derek Dorsey committed to the Cards. Dorsey attends DuPont Manual High School, which is basically in UofL’s backyard.

Dorsey is listed at 6’4 and 262 lbs. He attended Junior Day this past weekend at UofL. His other scholarship offer so far is to Navy.
Here are a couple of quotes from Dorsey in Steve Jones’ article in the Courier Journal.
“I’ve really built up a good personal relationship with a lot of the coaches there, and we all know each other, and growing up in Louisville, seeing everything, it’s always been my dream to play for a top-10 school like Louisville,” Dorsey said. ” Me and my parents sat down, and we talked it over Monday night. We all decided together that Louisville was the best option, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger.”
“I can’t be thankful enough,” he said. “I’m so blessed. I just can’t thank Louisville and the coaches enough for giving me this opportunity. I’m going to work hard during this offseason and try to show out as best I can my senior year, just do everything I can to not let them down and show them that they chose right by offering me.”
“That’s (B.J. Dubose) who I’m striving to be like right there,” Dorsey said. “… All the effort and the passion he has for the game, it really inspires me. Coach Scott spoke highly of him, and when I was watching that, I really started to realize I want to be that guy that Coach Scott talks about whenever I graduate. I just want to be like B.J. Dubose.”
