There are six former Louisville Cardinals participating in the NBA Summer League: Russ Smith, Peyton Siva, Earl Clark, Terry Rozier, Wayne Blackshear, and Montrezl Harrell. Here is just a little update on how the guys have done that have begun playing.

Russ Smith – Memphis Grizzlies

Through two games with the Memphis Grizzlies, Russ is off to a very good start. The summer league is usually where guys are trying to show that they belong in the NBA by scoring…a lot. You won’t find too much passing. For someone who can score at will, Russ is making the effort to pass the ball. He leads the team with 7.5 assists per game. The next highest is Andrew Harrison at 2.5 per game. Some other stats:

Minutes: 29.5

Points: 11.0

Assists: 7.5

Steals: 3.0

Rebounds: 2.5

Turnovers: 3.0

FG: 50% (8-16)

3 PT: 0% (0-3)

FT: 86% (6-7)

Their next game is today at 1:00 against Orlando Blue, which is the team Peyton Siva plays on.

Peyton Siva – Orlando Magic Blue

Speaking of Siva, he has played in one game for the Orlando Magic blue team. He scored 5 points, dished out 4 assists, and grabbed 1 rebound. He had 3 turnovers, was 2-6 (33%) from the field, and 1-4 (25%) from the three point line.

As I mentioned, Peyton faces Russ today at 1:00.

Earl Clark – Brooklyn Nets

Earl has been quite the journeyman on NBA teams in his career. This summer he is showcasing his talents with the Brooklyn Nets. Clark has started in one of the two games he has played in. He is averaging 5.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game.

He is shooting 3-8 (38%) from the field, 1-3 (33%) from the three point line, and 4-6 (67%) from the free throw line. He has yet to record a block, steal, or assist. The Nets are back in action today at 3:00 against the Charlotte Hornets.

Terry Rozier – Boston Celtics

The Celtics have only played one game so far, and that ended late Monday night. Rozier started and played nearly 29 minutes. He scored 7 points and led the team with 5 rebounds. He was 3-8 from the field, and it may have been hard to get into a rhythm with Marcus Smart taking 20 shots, and only making 6 of them.

Rozier also had 2 steals, 2 assists, and 2 turnovers. He was 1-3 from the three point line and 0-2 from the foul line. Boston plays Philadelphia this evening at 7:00.

Wayne Blackshear – San Antonio Spurs

Wayne played 4 minutes and 26 seconds last night for the Spurs. In that little bit of time, he scored 3 points (3-4 from the free throw line), had 2 assists, and 1 rebound. He was 0-2 from the field.

San Antonio plays Utah tonight at 9:00.

Montrezl Harrell – Houston Rockets

The Rockets don’t begin games until July 10.
