Going into the month of April, The Cards were ranked 25th and on a 12 game winning streak. They are currently receiving votes but are just outside of the top 25. The ladies started off the month with a rain-delayed victory at North Carolina but dropped a double-header to the Tar Heels just a day later. Losing the games by scores of 5-6 and 6-8, the Cards had chances but just couldn’t get the hit they needed. These two losses to UNC were the first back to back losses of the season and ironically the first conference series loss since the beginning of April 2015.
April weather cancelled a Wednesday game in Lexington vs 15th ranked Kentucky. There has not been a make up date announced as of now. The expected weather has also altered this weekends schedule. The games at Ulmer Stadium vs Virginia Tech were moved to one game on Saturday (4/9) ** Instant update; Cards just won game 12-3** and a double-header on Sunday (4/10) instead of Monday. The two games on Sunday will start at 11:00 and 1:00. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN3 with the familiar voice of Don Russell handling play-by-play duties and Stephanie Cantway providing analysis. Going into this series, The cards are tied with Virginia Tech for second in the ACC standings, both with a 9-3 conference record. This weekend series will go a long way in the seeding for the ACC conference tournament.
After this home series vs Virginia Tech, the ladies will head to Bloomington, Ind. to take on the Hoosiers on April 12th at 6:00.
They return home to Ulmer Stadium for games on April 16th (DH) and 17th to play North Carolina Central.

McNary and Jordan putting the ball in play
Junior Jordan McNary is tied for seventh in the NCAA’s “Toughest to Strikeout” categories. The speedy outfielder has one strikeout in 66 at bats. She played in 26 games with no strikeouts before her first K of the season in the 8-6 loss to North Carolina on April 3.
• Sophomore Jenna Jordan stands tied for ninth in the category with one strikeout in 62 at bats. The catcher’s lone strikeout of the season came on March 12 in the 6-1 win over Eastern Kentucky.
