Myisha Hines-Allen notched her fourth double-double on the season as she led the No. 4 Louisville Cardinals to a 72-59 victory over Indiana. Hines-Allen led all scorers with 25 points, on 12-of-17 shooting, to go along with 12 rebounds.
In a game where Louisville led wire to wire, it was easy to pinpoint the keys of success for the Cardinals.
Here are a few takeaways from this evening’s 72-59 victory over Indiana…
Myisha Hines-Allen is playing at an elite level.
Against Indiana, Hines-Allen showed her leadership. Not only did she shoot 70% from the floor, she made big plays on the defensive glass. In a game where nothing seemed to fall for Asia Durr, Louisville was able to depend on another superstar to led the Cardinals to victory.
The Cardinals do not have to depend on Asia Durr.
Asia Durr could not get her A-game going against the Hoosiers. She finished the contest with only 9 points and 4 assists in 26 minutes played. However, Durr’s lack of scoring did not hinder the Cardinals. Louisville had a multitude of scorers to pick up the slack.
Sam Fuehring racked up 9 points and 5 rebounds, while Jazmine Jones added 12 points and 7 boards. Freshman Dana Evans notched 8 points and Kylee Shook grabbed 5 points.
Louisville continues to shut down the opponent’s leading scorers.
We’ve seen it a few times already this season. Louisville has been able to render the best players on the opposing team well below their game average. Tonight was no different. The Cardinals held the Hoosiers’ leading scorer, Tyra Buss, to only 12 points. Buss averages 21 points per game on 46.5% shooting. However, Louisville made Buss work for each of the 12 points she picked up this evening.
The Cardinals also limited Amanda Cahill to only 9 points. The senior has scored double-figures in each game this season aside from the loss to Louisville.
Dana Evans is improving every game.
Louisville freshman, Dana Evans, showed the force she can be on the court against Indiana. Evans knocked down 8 points while dishing out 3 assists and pulling down 4 rebounds.
Evans, who was named to the ACC Newcomer Watch List in the preseason, is averaging 7.3 points per game off the bench while shooting 46% from the field.
Next up, the No. 4 Louisville Cardinals stay on the road and head to South Dakota to face the Jackrabbits on Sunday, December 3rd.
