Coach Jeff Walz Named ACC Coach Of The Year

Coach Jeff Walz is the 2018 ACC Coach of the Year.

This marks Coach Walz’s first Coach of the Year honor.

Under Coach Walz, the Cardinals are 29 – 2 this season, a program-best. Louisville earned its first ACC Regular Season Title despite returning only two starters from a season ago.

Louisville set the longest winning streak in school history with its 20-0 start. The Cardinals also reached the highest ranking in program history when it moved up to No. 2 in the AP Poll after defeating then No. 2 Notre Dame in a 100 – 67 blowout.

Coach Walz is already the winningest coach in program history, compiling a 292 – 95 record in his 11 year stint. Walz has led two Louisville teams to the National Championship game (2009, 2013). He has also had three Elite Eight appearances, seven Sweet Sixteen trips and nine NCAA Tournament bids.
