Press release from the University of Louisville athletic department:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Beginning July 1, the Kentucky Department of Revenue will require all non-profit organizations to collect sales tax on services including admission to sporting events.

With this new legislation, the University of Louisville will be required to add an additional six percent to the price of tickets to its athletic events.  This change will affect both season and single games tickets, but will not affect parking or donations.

The UofL ticket office will be making adjustments to ticket invoices as well as printed tickets.  The six percent sales tax will be added to the value of the ticket, showing one price inclusive of the tax.

Currently, there are 18 other states that require a charge for sales tax on athletic tickets, including several ACC schools.
