Jaelyn Withers, one of UofL’s top 2019 targets, is set to officially visit campus this weekend.

The 4 Star 6’8 215 lbs PF from NC is the 91st overall prospect in the 2019 class according to 247sports. Withers has been a priority for the UofL coaching staff since they arrived on campus. He is the type of versatile F Chris Mack likes in his system.

Withers unofficially visited campus back on June 1st and ever since then it has seemed almost inevitable that he will eventually commit to the Cards. However, there are some strong contenders working to get him to commit to their school instead.

Arizona, Texas A&M, Florida, and Texas all made Withers top 5 and he has scheduled an official visit to Texas A&M next weekend.

One of the factors in the Cards favor is Withers friendship with current commit Josh Nickelberry. Nickelberry has been recruiting Withers to join him in UofL’s 2019 class all summer.

Nickelberry will actually be on campus this weekend on an unofficial visit with Withers. UofL fans can bet Nickelberry will be in his friend’s ear trying to get him to commit.

Withers would be a great get if Coach Mack and the staff can secure a commitment. He can do a little bit of everything on the court. Mack could utilize him at the SF or PF position because he can post up, shoot the 3, slash to the rim, or use a midrange jumper. Withers also has a high motor and is a powerful dunker; traits that are reminiscent of former UofL great Montrezl Harrell.

Needless to say, this is the first of many big recruiting weekends for UofL. Jaelyn Withers is the tough, athletic, and versatile F Coach Mack wants in the fold. If things go well, UofL could have a commitment by the end of the weekend.
