Louisville vs Southern: Pregame Breakdown

The Louisville Cardinals (1-0) host Southern (0-2) tonight inside the Yum! Center at 7pm in a campus game to open the NIT Tip-Off. Louisville currently sits as 25.5 point favorites.

Southern is led in scoring by senior guard Eddie Reese with 17 points per game on 61.5% shooting. Fellow senior guard, Aaron Ray leads Southern in rebounds per game with 5 and assists per game with 2. Southern has taken on Alabama and Baylor in their first two games, losing 82-62 to the Crimson Tide and 80-53 to the Bears. So, Southern only averages 57.5 points per game and 17 of them come from Reese..guard that man.

Louisville started with Enoch, Sutton, King, Perry and Cunningham against Nicholls. I’m not sure if Chris Mack saw anything in that game to change the lineup for tonight, but the only change I could see him making is Nwora for Sutton. However, Nwora didn’t get going until late in the game and Sutton’s “do-it-all” play style makes him hard to pass on until Nwora gets going. Eventually, I believe Jordan Nwora earns a starting spot, but, unless Jordan has had a great week of practice, I don’t see the lineup changing tonight. Look for Enoch to continue to demonstrate his low-post ability and for the Cards to get him going early tonight.
