Louisville vs Tennessee: Postgame Recap

Agau/Sutton-Southern

In the first game of the NIT Season Tip-Off the Louisville Cardinals were beaten by the No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers 92-81.

Louisville put up a fight and played with the Vols for the most the game. The turning point was when Louisville was down 7 and a questionable (putting it lightly) over the back call led to a Chris Mack technical foul. The Vols would make 3 of the 4 free throws and the Cards weren’t able to bounce back after trailing by 10 with about 6 minutes left.

Louisville was led by Jordan Nwora’s 23 points and 10 rebounds. Dwayne Sutton and Akoy Agau had 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Louisville dealt with foul trouble for the entire game. The big men were the main culprits of the officials’ whistle and it really hurt Louisville’s flow of the game towards the end. Nevertheless, the Cards held their own today against a very good Tennessee team.

Up next: Louisville will play the loser of the Kansas/Marquette game. The game will take place Friday at 9pm.

Go Cards!
