U of L officially revealed its schedule for the 2019 football season today.
In Scott Satterfield’s first season at Louisville, the Cardinals will have their home and road slate split at six games. Louisville’s schedule includes two teams that made an appearance in the College Football Playoff (Notre Dame & Clemson), as well as nine teams that made a bowl appearance last season.
Starting on Labor Day (September 2nd), the Cards host Notre Dame under the lights at Cardinal Stadium. This will be the first time the Fighting Irish have ever traveled to Louisville.
In addition, the rest of Louisville’s out-of-conference schedule includes three in-state opponents. Following their season-opener against Notre Dame, Louisville hosts Eastern Kentucky on September 7th at Cardinal Stadium, then travels to Nashville to face Western Kentucky on September 14th. Louisville’s regular season ends on November 30th with a trip to Lexington, facing rival Kentucky. This will be the first time Louisville faces three in-state opponents in a season since 1960.
From September 21st to November 23rd, Louisville will play its entire ACC slate. Among them is a notable road trip to Florida State on September 21st, which starts their conference play. Louisville then gets its first bye week before returning home to host Boston College on October 5th.
From there, Louisville travels to Wake Forest on October 12th. Then, for the third straight season and fourth in the last six, the Cardinals get a chance to play the defending national champions as they host Clemson on October 19th. An October 26th clash with Virginia at Cardinal Stadium rounds out their October slate, before having their second bye of the season that following week.
Louisville begins the month of November with a big road game, traveling to Miami to face the Hurricanes. This will be Louisville’s first trip to Miami since their 2007 Orange Bowl victory, and the first time they travel to face the Hurricanes since 2004. They’ll have another road game at N.C. State on November 16th, then return home for Senior Day against Syracuse on November 23rd. The Cards then cap their regular season with their annual Governor’s Cup showdown against Kentucky on November 30th.
