Louisville vs North Carolina: Cards Fall at Home to Tar Heels

North Carolina got their revenge with a 79-69 win over Louisville Saturday afternoon at the Yum Center. The Tar Heels took a 16 point lead into halftime and never looked back.

Louisville just could not get things going today at home against 9th ranked North Carolina. The Cards were out-rebounded 50-32 and 19-7 on the offensive glass in the loss. For North Carolina, Luke Maye led the way with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Cam Johnson added 19 and 10. Dwayne Sutton had 19 points and 8 rebounds for Louisville.

The Cards got it to 9 points earlier in the second half, but this one was never really in question. You’d like to see this team put up a better fight at home, but it just wasn’t their day. Louisville’s resume still includes a 21-point road win against this same team, so it does not hurt quite as much.

Louisville now sits at 16-6 on the season and 7-2 in the ACC. They’re still in relatively good shape, but with three straight games against ranked opponents, wins won’t be nearly as easy as they’ve been this past month.

Up Next: The Cards head to Blacksburg for a Big Monday matchup with Virginia Tech in two days.
