Louisville Clinches Second Consecutive ACC Regular Season Title With Win Over Pitt

The No. 3 Louisville Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers in a 67 – 40 decision behind Asia Durr’s 17 points.

With the win – as well as NC State’s win against Miami – Louisville clinches its second consecutive ACC Regular Season Championship. The Cardinals enter the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament as a 2-seed as Notre Dame owns the tiebreaker.

Louisville closes the regular season with a 27 – 2 record and 14 – 2 in conference play. Louisville seniors Arica Carter, Durr and Sam Fuehring have now tied last year’s senior class for the most wins in program history. This senior class has amassed 118 wins.

The Cardinals clinched the win behind a huge second quarter. Louisville held Pittsburgh to only 5 points. At the half, the Cardinals held a 32 – 18 advantage.

The Panthers were unable to come close to the Cardinals. Louisville controlled the paint tallying 36 points.

The Cardinals defense forced 25 Panther’s turnovers, converting the turnovers into 21 points.

Louisville also had 20 points off the bench and 14 second chance points.

The Cardinals were led by senior guard Asia Durr, who racked up 17 points and 4 rebounds. Jazmine Jones added 12 points on 6 – of – 9 shooting. Senior Sam Fuehring also added 10 points and 6 boards.

Both Arica Carter and Dana Evans dished out 6 assists a piece, while Kylee Shook and Bionca Dunham both tallied 9 rebounds.

The Cardinals enter ACC Tournament play on Friday, March 8th at 6PM.
