Field Hockey Advances To Elite Eight After Double Overtime Victory Over #11 Michigan

The fifth-ranked, and 4th seeded, University of Louisville field hockey team beat No. 11 Michigan 2-1 in double overtime at Trager Stadium to advance to the Elite Eight in the 2019 NCAA tournament. Louisville will host Boston College on Sunday at 1:00 pm for a chance to go to the Final Four. Today’s win marks the first time Louisville field hockey has ever advanced to the Elite Eight.

Michigan scored first and held the early lead until just under two minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Neither team scored in the first overtime, but with with 1:46 remaining in the second overtime, Bethany Russ scored her second goal of the game and her 12th of the season to win the game.
