AP Women’s College Basketball Poll: 12-2-19

Louisville Women’s Basketball has been unbelievably hot. They now stand at 8-0 and have a victory over former number 1 Oregon in the championship game of the Paradise Jam to win the tournament last Saturday. All this led to the Cards vaulting from number 8 to number 2 in the AP Women’s Top 25 Poll.

AP Poll

Stanford moves into the number 1 spot after being 3 in the previous poll. Former number 2 Baylor lost allowing the Cardinal with the tree mascot to get the top spot. Of course, Louisville, by virtue of its 72-62 win over Oregon and its undefeated record jumped from 8 to 2. Oregon dropped from 1 down to 3.

The rest of the top 10 has UConn at 4, Oregon State at 5, South Carolina at 6, former number 2 Baylor at 7, Florida State at 8, Maryland at 9, and Mississippi State at 10.

The Cards will play Florida State in conference play. That potential top 10 matchup will take place at home in February.

The USA TODAY Women’s Coaches Poll will be unveiled tomorrow. I’d be shocked if the Cards don’t occupy the 2 spot in it as well. The lowest spot I can foresee the Cards occupying is 3rd.

The Cards return to action Thursday when they visit Big 10 foe Ohio State. The game is part of the ACC-Big 10 Challenge.
