It Is Great To Be A UofL Cardinal

KGsCorner

Over the last few months, we have been reminded again why it is great to be a Cardinal.

  • We capped off 2019 by winning the Music City Bowl in epic fashion. I don’t feel the need to rehash why this was so great, because I believe most of us are still riding that excitement.
    • Not to mention they are already being ranked in the top 25 (top 20 in most sites) for the 2020 season. Music City Bowl-58
  • The men’s basketball team is vibing like we all knew they would. Expectations were high coming into the season and it feels like we are all being reminded why. This team is FUN to watch and I have a feeling that is only going to go up.
    • They are currently ranked 5th in the AP Poll.Johnson/Igiehon/Slazinski-Clemson20
  • Women’s basketball continues to make us all proud. After losing, arguably, one of the best wbb college players of all time last season, they are showing everyone why they are a force to be reckoned with year after year. March is only a month away and in the wise words of Taylor Swift – ARE YOU READY FOR IT?

  • Baseball season officially begins in two weeks! With the OG Coach Mac leading the number 1 preseason team, I am feeling as confident as ever. Getting to Omaha is no easy task – or something we should take lightly – but man oh man am I excited for the possibility of going back.
    • They are currently ranked 1 in every poll imaginable. UL Baseball-UNC

That is right, we are currently cheer for THREE OF THE TOP 5 TEAMS IN THE NATION.

Oh and we also had a few HUGE honors for some of our former student athletes…

  • Donovan Mitchell continues to make UofL proud and shine on the national level. He was recently selected to his first NBA All Star team where he will be a reserve for Team Lebron.

  • And then there is Lamar. Where do I even begin to put into words how happy I am for Lamar Jackson? Over the weekend he was named the NFL MVP and only the second person to ever receive the honor unanimously. We are so, so lucky to have him be connected to the University of Louisville.

  • Angel McCoughtry has made the university proud for years now. She has won two gold medals for team USA and has become quite the entrepreneur along the way. She was back this weekend, wearing a different jersey, but nonetheless it was great to see her competing for Team USA again. Image may contain: one or more people

The University of Louisville is a special place and one of the greatest fan bases to be a part of. We have been so accustomed to being one of the best in every sport, it almost feels like reached a place where we took it for-granted.  So let’s not do that again.
