As many people speculated, Louisville Men’s Basketball signee Jay Scrubb is entering the NBA draft to test the waters. His father stated that the decision to hire an agent has not been made yet, but in an interview with Matt Babcock, Scrubb says,
“Yes, my dad and I have talked to a number of agents and I will be deciding who I’m signing with soon.”
Under rules adopted by the NCAA in 2018, Scrubb can have an agent certified by the NBPA and the NCAA to represent him while testing the waters. However, if he decides to attend Louisville, he must sever ties with the agent.
While it is apparent he wants to be an NBA player, he left Louisville fans with some optimism that he will be a Card with this quote below.
Is going to Louisville next season still a possibility?
Yes, absolutely. I’m going to do whatever I possibly can to put myself in a situation to be drafted this year. If the process doesn’t go as I hope then going to Louisville next season is definitely an option I’d like to keep open.
Scrubb is the #1 rated JUCO prospect. He is a Louisville native and played for Trinity High School. He actually shared the backcourt with current Louisville G David Johnson for a time. Out of high school, Scrubb chose the JUCO route and has attended John A. Logan College the past two years.
The 6-foot-6, 205-pound left-handed wing would be a huge part of the Louisville ’20-’21 team if he came to Louisville. Of course, his talent is undeniable and he could easily get feedback supporting him staying in the draft. Either way, we here at CSZ wish him the best and support him no matter what he decides.
