Green committed to Louisville while she was in the eighth grade and never wavered from her commitment. Nyah Green averaged over 17ppg on her way to being one of the top players in her class and leading her team to a 32-7 overall record.
Coach Walz: “Nyah was the first to commit to us her freshman year and we have all anxiously awaited this day to make it official.”
“Nyah is a big guard who can play multiple positions and create mismatches across the board.”
Breakdown: Nyah Green is a dynamic combo guard that is a matchup nightmare. She is extremely skilled, a good passer, and very athletic. Standing 6’1, she has the ability and handle to blow by bigger and slower defenders. With her height and explosive pull-up jumper, Green is a reliable perimeter threat with a great mid-range game and can score the ball at will. Scoring won’t be a problem for Green at the ACC level. She does, however, need to continue to work on being more consistent on the defensive end of the floor.
My Take: With Coach Walz wanting to run four guards a lot, I see Green playing a lot of the 4 this year and providing matchup nightmares for opposing teams. With Green’s shooting ability, she will be a great trail 4 in transition. Of course, she’ll need to work on her consistency on defense and rebounding, but I believe she’ll thrive in any role Coach Walz puts her in. Green used the redshirt year to add some much needed strength, that will only add to her game on both ends of the floor. Card Nation will see glimpses of how talented Green is this year, but next year is when Green will come into her own as a Louisville Cardinal.
