It’s been a bit quiet on the recruiting front for Louisville Football. It’s probably due in part to the ongoing pandemic and the lack of being able to have prospects on campus. However, the recruiting grind never stops and the Cards were just named as part of the final 4 for two top 2022 prospects from Tennessee that happen to be twin brothers.

Keaten and Destin Wade both named Louisville among a final 4 that included Tennessee, Virginia, and Kentucky. As of right now, 247sports has two crystal balls put in for both brothers for Tennessee. However, for Louisville to be in the final 4 affords the staff the opportunity to really put together an excellent recruiting pitch and convince the brothers to join the flock.
Keaten is a 4 Star 6’4 223 lbs OLB prospect. He is a top 200 recruit, coming in at 184th-ranked nationally and 16th-ranked at his position, according to 247sports. Before whittling down his schools to just 4, Wade had offers LSU, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Penn State, Cincinnati, Texas A&M, and Baylor among many others. Cort Dennison has been the point man for UofL in Keaten’s recruitment.
Destin is a 3 Star 6’3 205 lbs prospect being recruited as an ATH. He is ranked as the 416th-best overall recruit and 38th-best at his position, according to 247sports. Among other offers Wade has received in addition to his final 4 are Baylor, Cincinnati, Texas A&M, Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Ole Miss.
Keaten is an OLB that likes to attack off the edge. He’s at his best attacking downhill, getting in the backfield to blow up running plays and sack the QB. He’s got great burst at the snap and speed when attacking. Wade is excellent at getting off blocks to make stops and is a sure tackler. He has great awareness and can cover when asked to. The pass rushing and run-stopping ability is what really makes Keaten Wade a blue chip, top-tier prospect. In just 3 games for Summit High School last season, Keaten recorded 6 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks. Video of Keaten can be viewed here.
Destin played QB last season for Summit High School. While being recruited as an athlete, his highlights show a young man with good pocket awareness and a QB that will hang in the pocket, take a hit, and deliver a good throw. He’s got a strong arm and can deliver some nice touch throws. He completed 63-percent of his passes for 1390 yards and 19 TDs. He only threw 5 interceptions. The reason many are eyeing Destin as an athlete and potential WR or RB is his running ability. He’s got good straight-line speed, able to break into the open field and away from defenders. He’s got good quickness laterally and is able to make cuts to make defenders miss. Last season, Destin ran for 1509 yards and 18 TDs, averaging 9.1 yards a carry. His highlights and stats show that it’s possible Destin could be molded into a college QB, but no matter what position he ends up playing, he could become a huge weapon on the gridiron for whatever team he chooses. If Louisville can somehow seize the momentum in the recruitment of these twin brothers, it could be a huge coup. Both are ultra-talented athletes. Keaten could become a cornerstone of the front 7 for UofL, causing havoc in the opponent’s backfield. Destin could be given a chance at QB. He showed plenty of promise as a passer and his athleticism in a read-option set could make him a huge weapon. If he moved to WR, he could be a nice big target on the outside that can be a security blanket for a QB and a stud playmaker. No matter where he ends up playing, Destin is a weapon for whatever team he chooses.
