Uniform Report: Louisville Vs. EKU

This Saturday night, on the 20th anniversary of one of the most devastating days in American history, the Louisville football team will battle EKU. In the spirit of remembrance, the Cards will have some special elements to their uniforms when they take the field.

They are going with a white, red, white look a.k.a. the traditional Cardinal look. The jerseys are the same red jerseys they wore against Ole Miss, which means they are permanent. The pants are the traditional white with the cardinal head on the outside of the thigh.

The helmets and gloves are the where the special elements lay. The helmet will feature the Cardinal head logo colored in with the American flag. There is a special 9-11 decal on the front of the helmet usually reserved for other special messages. The message for the Ole Miss game was, “Belief.” That decal is also colored in with the American flag. On the lower back of the helmet, Louisville will be colored in with Old Glory and there will be an American flag decal. The gloves, when put together, will display a complete American flag as well.

It’s supposed to be a beautiful evening for football on Saturday, but it is also the anniversary of one of the most tragic days in American history. Even though it is, but a small token of remembrance to wear a special uniform, it shows that all these years later we will never forget.
