Louisville Football Adds USC Transfer Jayden Williams To The Flock

Louisville Football has been in need of immediate impact guys in the defensive backfield, especially at CB. It appears they have landed a player that addresses this need. USC transfer CB Jayden Williams made the decision last night to transfer to UofL.

The 6’1 195 lbs Williams entered the transfer portal on January 14th. He will have 3 seasons of eligibility left. As a high school prospect, he was rated a 3 Star prospect and 102nd at his position according to 247sports. He is the second CA native to join the Cards in recent days after the addition of QB Pierce Clarkson.

Jayden Williams High School Highlights

Williams is a corner with the ability to flip his hips quickly and change direction. He’s physical and will press at the line of scrimmage. In off coverage, he will take chances and break on short routes to try and make interceptions. He’s got good speed and quickness. Williams likes to read the QB’s eyes when he’s in off coverage to try and jump routes.

While playing at USC, Williams recorded 15 total tackles and 1 interception in 3 seasons with the Trojans. His talent is top notch, but he needed a change in scenery and a chance to prove his talent will translate into production.

At UofL, Williams figures to immediately compete for the starting corner spot opposite Tre Clark. If he can live up to his potential, UofL may have gotten a steal at a position of immediate and extreme need. Under secondary coach Wes McGriff, I expect Jayden Williams to meet and possibly exceed his potential.
