Three Cardinals Receive All-America Honors From Baseball America

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A trio of players from the Louisville baseball team received 2016 Baseball America All-America honors on Tuesday with sophomore pitcher/first baseman Brendan McKay leading the way with first team recognition as a utility player. Junior outfielder Corey Ray was named to the second team, while junior second baseman Nick Solak received third team accolades.

 

Tuesday’s announcement marked the second All-American honors this season for McKay and Ray, who were Louisville Slugger All-Americans, while Solak was chosen as an All-American for the first time in his collegiate career. Including Solak, five Cardinals have received All-America honors in 2016 as junior lefty Drew Harrington and junior righty Zack Burdi was also named Louisville Slugger All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Russ Smith, Shoni Schimmel: All Americans

 

Friday wasn’t a great day for CardNation but today was a great day. Besides Shoni Schimmel being named a USBWA All-American, Russ Smith was named a consensus Ap All-American and also a Wooden watch list All-American. Russ Smith was our first 1st team All-American since Clifford Rozier in 1994. Congrats to a Hall of Fame career by Russdiculous & Shoni Schimmel. #RUSSpect #Shoni’sWorld
