Angel of the Lady Cards: Legends of Louisville

It’s that time again ladies and gents, time for us to look back at yet another Legend of Louisville! As I was thinking of which Legend to talk about this week, I noticed a commercial on the television (yes people still watch television even with all this new media being abundant), promoting the WNBA, and I immediately thought of the one and only, Angel McCoughtry, one of the best basketball players to ever come out of Louisville, and the one who helped put our women’s team on the map.

Summer Thoughts

CSZLogoSkyline white 2

So this has been one interesting summer. I have been swamped with work (a good thing) and we are now in the ACC! I am so excited about that part. The purgatory known as the AAC is over and now it is on to the next chapter of our greatness….the A-C-C

Louisville ACC

It’s so pretty….

Well let’s go over some things that have happened this summer. Teddy signed with the Vikings, Pryor with the Jets, Smith with the Eagles, Philon with the Steelers, Copeland with the Jags and Perry with the Bears. A pretty eventful summer for the former football Cards. We are all so very proud.

The Baseball team also had a crazy amount of signees to MLB teams. We definitely lost a ton of talent

Congrats to those guys as well…..

If there is one WNBA team that the city of Louisville can follow and root for, it’s definitely the Atlanta Dream. After all, they do have two of the best UofL women’s basketball players of all time on their team: Angel McCoughtry and now Shoni Schimmel. In the season opener Friday night, they led the Dream to a 79-75 win over the San Antonio Stars.

In her WNBA debut, Schimmel had a very good game with 7 points, 11 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals in 30 minutes played. She was in for crunch time too. Very big night for the future Rookie of the Year (why not?).

McCoughtry was her usual self as she scored 21 points and also had 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Just par for the course for the two-time WNBA scoring champion.
