An epic battle took place Friday night between two big time high school programs in south Florida. Miami Northwestern and Miami Central squared off with the winner a virtual lock to win the district title.
Why am I talking about Florida high school football you may ask? It’s because in this game, 3 UofL Football commits and a least 1 target played each other. So, I figured our site readers may be interested in some of the stats and highlights from these players.

Birds of a feather stick together they say. That is the case for 2018 UofL Football commits Robert Hicks III and Chandler Jones.
Hicks is the number 18 inside linebacker in the country and Jones is the number 45 cornerback in the country according to 247sports.com.
Jim Halley, a USA Today High School Sports writer, wrote an article about the Miami Central High School teammates. He writes about how they received their Under Armour All-America Game jerseys together and how they remain committed to UofL.
Hicks told Halley, “I’m sticking with Louisville right now. I have a couple of fun visits with my teammates, like Southern Miss, but that’s about it.”
Jones echoed Hicks’ sentiment telling Halley, “I’m locked into Louisville right now, maybe 99 percent. When Robert transferred (to Miami Central) and we went on our official visit together, we just fell in love with Louisville.”
As you can clearly see, it appears we will be seeing Hicks and Jones together on the field in Cardinal red.
Halley’s article also details the pair’s high school season so far and how they dealt with the turmoil created by Hurricane Irma.
UofL fans can watch Robert Hicks and Chandler Jones in the Under Armour All-America Football Game live on ESPN2 January 4, 2018 at 6 pm.

Yesterday we got to hear from head coach Bobby Petrino for the first time since National Signing Day last month, and we came away with a few interesting tidbits thus far.
Cornerback Shaq Wiggins and offensive lineman Chandler Jones will both be transferring for the University of Louisville. It is unknown whete they will heading, but we wish them both the best of luck.
Cornerback Alphonso Carter has been suspended from the team. Last month, he was found to have a loaded gun in his possession with no license to carry after he was pulled over for running a red light.
Wide receiver Jaylen Smith and outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard will miss all of spring ball due to both of them in recovery from surgeries. Smith had surgery of stress fracture in his foot while Greenard had hip surgery.
On the positive side, Petrino announced that defensive end James Hearns has fully recovered from his surgery and is now a “full go”. Henry Famurewa is still in partial recovery, but will see some action on the practice field. Trevon Young will also see some work on the practice field after missing all of last season with a hip injury.
Head coach Bobby Petrino pleased with the team after first day of practice
Louisville, Ky. — Winners of eight of its last 10 games last season, the University of Louisville football team returned to the practice fields on Wednesday for a pair of practices as the 2016 season officially opened.
As has been tradition during head coach Bobby Petrino‘s tenure, the newcomers and a select number of second-year players worked out in the morning, while the veterans came out in the afternoon for a separate practice.
Here is the fourth of the Spring Football breakdowns by the fine folks at @UofLFootball. This one is for the Offensive Line position. A position that was young last year becomes a strength this year with 4 starters returning on the line. So you are telling me that Lamar was running behind a young, unexperienced line & this year they will be way better? I’m in. Let’s Go. We will have a position by position breakdown here on the site leading up to the start of the regular season but for now let’s feast on this video! (Click on More)
Just a few quick notes before I head out the door this morning. You may already know all of these things, but maybe not…
*Football practice begins on Thursday for the University of Louisville. They will have a team meeting on Wednesday and then really begin on Thursday.
*There is supposed to be an announcement (I think today) as to if any practices are open to the public. I haven’t heard anything, but I wouldn’t be surprised if maybe the first two or three are open.

The 2014 football season may be over, but the recruiting season never seems to end. With National Signing Day coming up on February 4, the Cards are hosting a lot of big visitors on campus this weekend. Some are already committed to UofL, so the staff will do what they can to solidify those commitments. Some are committed to other schools and some are not yet committed anywhere.
The four recruiting sites used are ESPN, 247 Sports, Rivals, and Scout. As of right now, there will be 18 official visitors. Here is who will be on campus this weekend…
This weekend is shaping up to be very big for the University of Louisville football team. The Cards enter the game against rival Kentucky with an 8-3 record and are playing to improve their Bowl Game stock. The Cats are 5-6 and are playing to become bowl eligible. That makes this game exciting enough.
On top of that, Bobby Petrino and the Cards will be hosting a LOT of recruits on campus for the game. The list is pretty incredible. What makes it more impressive to me is that this is rivalry weekend. There are huge games all over the country, and these kids will be right here in the ‘Ville checking out the Cards. That says a lot.
*The “four recruiting sites” that are referenced are 247 Sports, ESPN, Rivals, and Scout.
The Louisville Cardinals just got a commitment from 3-star offensive guard Chandler Jones. Jones is listed at 6’4 and 310 lbs on 247 Sports. He is from Powder Springs, Georgia.
Jones chose Louisville over Mississippi State and also had offers from Syracuse, Cincinnati, Michigan State, NC State, Purdue, and more.
3 Star DT Chandler Jones (GA) tweeted the above tweet tonight. The 6’4 310lb Jones has been a Louisville lean for awhile and has himself throwing up the “L” in his twitter background. Jones crystal ball on the Louisville 247 site is also 100% Louisville. All signs pointing to the Cards here.
