The Cardinals are hitting the ground running this season. While Southeast Missouri seemed to be an easy victory for Louisville, the Cardinals have only one game behind them entering the matchup against No. 5/8 Ohio State.
Louisville will get its first taste of an NCAA Tournament atmosphere as the Cardinals play Ohio State in Nationwide Arena, the home of the 2018 Women’s Final Four.
Louisville will face ACC foe Virginia at Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium on Saturday, November 11th. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 and it will be televised on ESPNU.
ESPNU said exactly what every UofL fan has been screaming since the preseason. QUIT SLEEPING ON LAMAR JACKSON TO WIN BACK-TO-BACK HEISMAN TROPHIES. Here is the comparison of stats from the past 2 seasons.
Lamar has virtually identical stats this year as he did last year. Notable differences include fact he has thrown for 161 more yards and rushed for 306 yards less. It’s a sign he’s grown as a player and as a pocket passer.
Don’t be surprised if Lamar at least gets that invite to NYC. Check out some of his highlights courtesy of ACC Digital Network YouTube account. You’ll see why the theme of this article is not to sleep on Mr. Jackson.
The Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook released their preseason top 25. There are six ACC teams ranked, with Louisville coming in at number 6. Take a look at where everyone else is ranked and let us know what you think.
Lamar Jackson is a once in a lifetime player. There is nothing he can’t do. Here are just some of the highlights from him this past Saturday courtesy of Louisville Athletics and ESPN.

Great news coming from the University of Louisville Football team today. Redshirt Freshman running back, Dae Williams, has been cleared to start practicing. Williams tore his ACL in spring practice earlier this year. We at Cardinal Sports Zone look forward to seeing Williams in action soon.
Rick Pitino has never been shy to share his opinions on the one and done rule that the NCAA and NBA have put in place. It is just not for him. But Coach Pitino has met with Marty Smith with ESPN and mentions that he believes the one and done will be a thing of the past within the next two years. You can see the full interview below.
The celebrity guest picker for today’s ESPN College Gameday is the University of Louisville’s men’s basketball coach, Rick Pitino!
ESPN dives into who every team’s key losses are, reasons to be optimistic as well as what are the causes for concern. Take a look and let us know if you agree with their preview of the ACC.
Unless you have been living under a rock, you have noticed that the entire world is sleeping on Lamar Jackson. We don’t promote a lot of other sites but our guy Crums is a day one soldier. CrumsRevenge, like the rest of us, is excited to watch him explode this season. Take a look at the hype video from crunchzone.com and remember, just four more days.
FINALLY! Someone has taken notice that Lamar is being overlooked, and they have decided to change that narrative. Stephan A. Smith picked Lamar Jackson to become only the second player, ever, to repeat as the Heisman Trophy Winner. You can see the full clip below.
Before I get to the point of the story, I want to just lay some things out. I am a calm and collective guy. Even at CSZ we rarely get into the name calling game, with the exception of the loose cannon Daryl Foust. I myself never get into the UL/uk wars because of family I have who support uk and anything I said would pertain to them. They are just as calm and non-confronting people as I am. They are rare. I also have been lucky enough to find friends that don’t fit the typical stereotype of the Kentucky fanatic. We are good to each other. My Uncle Jerry called me before the title game a few years back and said don’t worry, you got this. He is as blue as they come. So to all the people I love who are kentucky fans the following story will seem un-Jeremy like. I apologize. Read the rest of this entry
Today at approx. 4pm on ESPNU, the baseball Cards will take the field against either Kansas or Uk. The Cards defeated Kansas 6-3 in the regional game yesterday and by doing so earn a berth to the finals. Kentucky however has had the Cards number this season winning 8-3 in Lexington and beating the Cards at home 4-2. I believe Kansas will get it going late and win. The Cards will not be facing either teams ace as they were both used yesterday. If the winner of KU/uk defeats the Cards tonight, there will be a final game tomorrow night at 7 at Jim Patterson Stadium. Tickets are cheap so go fill up this magnificent ballpark.
For the Cards to defeat Kansas tonight they will need to execute on defense better. The Cards seemed to struggle yesterday a little with errors, mistakes which loaded the bases at least three times for Kansas yesterday. Even though most think we would have won by more if Kidston was taken out, he improved to 8-0 with the win and showed great resolve despite his mistakes. No offense to the Kansas team, I have friends who follow them for media purposes, but if they were a decent hitting team we would have lost yesterday. For the Cards to beat uk tonight they will have to rely on keeping the ball in the park. Whereas UL is a great small-ball team, uk is a great long-ball team. The Cards gave up 0 HR’s yesterday so that will be key to repeat again tonight. Win or lose the Cards should be ok as Funkhouser would take the mound tomorrow night if the cards are beaten. The Cards will host Super Regional action if they win this regional. Stay tuned to CSZ for times and dates as they become available.
