Logan Wyatt Named ACC Co-Player Of The Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville sophomore first baseman Logan Wyatt was named Monday as the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Co-Player of the Week.

The conference honor is the first for Wyatt, who shared this week’s recognition with Clemson’s Seth Beer. Miami’s Evan McKendry was selected as Pitcher of the Week.

Wyatt was 7-for-12 at the plate with a home run, three doubles, one triple and eight RBIs as the Cardinals went 3-1 last week with a series win over No. 13 North Carolina. Wyatt added seven walks and scored five runs while registering a 1.250 slugging percentage and .737 on-base percentage in the four games. After opening the week with four hits and five RBIs in a win over Morehead State, the Louisville native was 2-for-3 with a pivotal three-run double and scored the game-winning run in the 5-4 series-opening victory against the Tar Heels. Overall, Wyatt has a .309 batting average, seven doubles and 15 RBIs in 15 games this season for the Cardinals (14-1, 2-1 ACC).

Up next, No. 4 Louisville concludes its 14-game homestand at Jim Patterson Stadium with a two-game midweek series against No. 5 Texas Tech. The Cardinals and Red Raiders are set for Tuesday at 3 p.m., ET and Wednesday at noon.

UofL Baseball Cracks Top 10 In USA Today Coaches Poll


After starting the season 11-0, the third best start under Coach McDonell, the cardinals are up three spots to number 10 in the coaches poll. TIME CHANGE: First Pitch for Friday’s Louisville Baseball Home Game with Youngstown State Moved to 2 p.m.

Cardinals and Penguins are slated for Friday at 2 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Catching Up With The Cards

Our newest contributor, Brendan Holba, will give you the run down on every former Card that played Baseball at the University of Louisville. Justin Marks
The lefty from Owensboro, Kentucky completed the season in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization with the AAA Oklahoma City Dodgers.  Marks pitched in the big leagues with the Tampa Bay Ray’s totaling 1.1 innings, surrendering 2 hits including a home run.  He did complete the outing with a strikeout and a walk.  In May, Marks was claimed off of waivers by the Dodgers and is currently a free agent heading into the spring.  His final line for 2017 at the AAA level:
8-4 with a 5.11 era,  in 75.2 innings he gave up 76 hits and 43 earned runs to go along with 71 strikeouts, 36 walks and a  .259 batting average against with a 1.48 whip.

Expected inclement weather forces schedule change for Cardinals and Colonels

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Due to expected inclement weather, the 13th-ranked Louisville baseball team’s 2018 home-opener against Eastern Kentucky will be played one day earlier than originally scheduled as the Cardinals and Colonels will meet Tuesday at 4 p.m., ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
