We here at Cardinal Sports Zone wish Lance nothing but the best moving forward.
Press release from the University of Louisville athletic department:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Forward Lance Thomas, who averaged 2.2 points and 1.3 rebounds in 12 games as a freshman at the University of Louisville last season, has been provided his release to transfer to another institution.
This UofL basketball season has been, well, disappointing. It was a letdown before practice even started. We lost a coach, an Athletic Director, and our sanity. Our team of great young men were forced to endure more mega media attention and questions about scandals they had no part in. People pelted them with cheap insults and petty taunts.
This team has talent yet it seems they can’t find a way to mesh it together to work properly and consistently. I think it’s a byproduct of scandal fatigue for the team. We fans have it and it’s obvious the players do. Nearly all of the Cards issues are mental. It’s as if they think too much and are slow to react on the floor. So many mental lapses led to the only consistency being inconsistency.
Well, we made it through another calendar year – and what a year it’s been.
Lets’s look back at some of the Nunnsense posts over the year and I’ll point out where I was right, and where I was wrong. We can also look at some of the most viewed posts as well as my top 10 favorite pictures of the year.
We started off the year with interviewing 3 of the 2017 men’s basketball class…
- Nunnsense: Q&A With Louisville Basketball Signing Class of 2017, Part 1 – Lance Thomas
- Nunnsense: Q&A With Louisville Basketball Signing Class of 2017, Part 2 – Darius Perry
- Nunnsense: Q&A With Louisville Basketball Signing Class of 2017, Part 3 – Jordan Nwora
Last night was a return to normalcy for cardinal Basketball and fans alike. With an expected attendance of 4,000 fans, once again we did not let them down. About 7,000 people showed up to watch the first Red-White Scrimmage of the season. Coach Padgett was very appreciative. “The ovation I received at the beginning of the scrimmage was extremely humbling” he said at the post game presser. The pre-game intros were high energy as you could tell Card Nation was ready to put the past in the past. The actual game was very entertaining highlighted by a pair of dunks on Anas, one by Deng & one by Jo Griffin. Oof. The Red team pulled away with a 94-80 victory over the white team despite the efforts of Gerald cheering the Red team on. For the Red team Deng Adel went for 32 points and 13 rebounds and Ray added 22 points and 16 boards of his own. “If Deng, Ray, Malik and that Frontcourt can rebound like that during the regular season, we are gonna be in good shape” said Padgett. For the White team VJ scored 30 but turned the ball over an uncharacteristic 9 times. Malik had 17 rebounds and Jordan Nwora added 18 points off of 50% shooting including 4-6 from 3 pt land. Overall it was a great night and you can tell that this is a high energy group who can score. Buckle up CardNation, it’s gonna be a fun ride this season. We need and deserve a fun one too. Oh yeah, Jeff Nunn took a lot of great pics, check them out!
Once again we have a report from practice from the anonymous Mr. L. I promise you all it’s not me. As we head towards tonight’s first Red-White game of the 2017-18 season, here are some things from practice this week to look forward to.
Q – becoming more vocal and a very good leader. Playing well and is a complete floor general. Shooting very well also, and has improved his quickness and defense a bit.
Deng – Best nba prospect on the team according to a lot of folks at Pro day. Very good 2-way player on both sides and will be a game changer for the Cards. Attacking on offense!
On today’s Beat the Buzzer, the awesome people with UofL athletics sit down with freshman Lance Thomas. The fans get to find out what celebrity he would leave a comp ticket for, what’s the best thing he’s discovered about the city of Louisville and so much more. Watch below!
The Louisville Cardinals had 4 signees participate in the Kentucky Derby Festival Classic basketball game held at Freedom Hall on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 4,812. This was many fans first and last chance to see them before they put on a Cardinal uniform. You can’t judge what type of player they will be in college by their performance in this game. You can, however, judge their personality and character.
Happy New Year and glad you all made it to 2017 safely. If you are a regular reader of Nunnsense, then I want to say thank you and this year I promise to give you even more of my thoughts, opinions, facts, videos, pictures, interviews and everything Cardinal related. I’ll do my best to entertain and inform you. Now let’s get down to business. Read the rest of this entry
