UofL Football Is Trying To Win The State In 2019: Aidan Robbins Commitment May Set The Victory In Motion
Just about every coach in the NCAA wants to take care of home first (from basketball to soccer). They all speak about how important it is to win the recruiting battle and keep the good and special players home. The same goes for Louisville’s Bobby Petrino, Pete Nochta, Ryan Beard, and the rest of the coaching staff.
This year is no different; especially with all the talented young men coming from the state just within the 2019 class. This class arguably has the talent to rival any class to come before it: the 2003 class (Michael Bush), 2004 class (Brian Brohm and Mario Urrutia) and the 2013 class (James Quick, Kyle Bolin and Jason Hatcher).
The first annual Jamon Brown Foundation Celebrity golf scramble was held on Monday, April 9th at Lake Forest Country Club. The scramble was in partnership with the Coalition for the Homeless with the Petrino Family Foundation as the title sponsor. In attendance were many great former Cards including, Denny Crum, Russ Smith, Luke Hancock, Michael Bush, Marques Maybin, Keith Kelsey, Tony Williams, Keith Towbridge, Luke Whitehead, Mario Urrutia and a few others. Kentucky legend Jack “Goose” Givens also showed his support. There were some amazing silent auction prizes as well as raffle gifts.
If you missed it this year, you should go ahead and start planning on attending next year. I promise you, it’s worth it. If you want to find out info on how to play, donate or become hole sponsor for next year, contact Danny Mosby at email@example.com
Here are some pics from before the scramble… Read the rest of this entry
As you all know, the Cardinal Sports Zone threw a Football Kickoff Party at JB’s Pub on Central Friday night. Former Cards Mario Urrutia & Ibn Green were asked a few questions by our own Steve Rummage. Here is what Ibn had to say when Steve asked about the season results…..
Well there you go, Ibn has this being the year that we take it to the house
Well maybe not like that but you get the drift. Click on more to hear what Louisville great Mario Urrutia had to say about Reggie Bonnafon and Super Student Athletes.

A.F.R.O.S. stands for America’s Finest Receivers On Saturdays. It was a phrase coined by former UofL Football WR Lavell Boyd. Lavell Boyd is a part of Prestigious 300 (P300), a company that puts on camps and helps out youth get to college and achieve their dreams. On July 10th & 11th, P300 is putting on the first annual A.F.R.O. Academy. On July 2nd, Lavell Boyd, Deion Branch, Mario Urrutia & Arnold Jackson will join Steve Rummage & myself at 10am on ESPN 93.9FM The Ville. Tune in and Go Cards! The official release is below:
P300 sports in association with the Deion Branch Foundation & the A.F.R.O.S. will be hosting the 2016 Afro Academy July 10th and 11th at the Louisville sports academy outdoor facility.
It is no secret that Devante Parker was one of the best receivers EVER at the University of Louisville. Of course you can throw in guys like Deion Branch, Mario Urrutia, Harry Douglas or even an unheralded guy like Lavell Boyd (I did not include LB because he was in my wedding but because he deserved the mention) who is top 10 all-time in almost every category. I am certain I left a few out and just as certain you will tweet me at @Jeremy_CSZ and tell me. Devante undeniably changed the game for the Cards. A deep threat that you could just throw it up to or a guy you could throw a jump ball to in the end zone from 10 yards away and he was just flat-out go get it. Enough of what he did at Louisville though. The rookie WR in Miami had a rough time due to injuries. This year will be different. He will be healthy and ready to go from 1 to 100 straight out of the gate. This week QB Ryan Tannehill had some great things to say about our Cardinal Forever:

Athlete Prep Academy is putting on several clinics in the month of May. Founded by former Card Dexter Heyman in 2014, Athlete prep Academy will be a place young kids can learn the concepts, techniques and fundamentals that great Football players learn. Here is the press release:
Well how about that? Good find @TurtleBITW
There is often the debate on just how good Louisville’s 2006 Orange Bowl team was, especially considering Michael Bush was injured. Even without Bush, the Cards seemed to be on the doorstep of a National Championship. What if there was a College Football Playoff back then?
The following is from picksixpreviews.com:
We have just seen a college career come to an end that we won’t soon forget. There are surely going to be some good wide receivers come in and play for UofL over the next several years. And the best ones will undoubtedly be compared to DeVante Parker. He has set a bar that will be nearly impossible to reach. The combination of his talent along with him being a hometown kid just make him one of the biggest fan favorites to ever come through the UofL football program.
Although he missed the first 7 games of his senior season, Parker still climbed to (or near) the top of many different categories in the UofL history books. So there will always be that “what if” factor with Parker’s numbers, especially because 6 of those first 7 games were said to be the “easier” part of the 2014 schedule. No telling what kind of numbers he would have put up against teams like Murray State, Syracuse, and Miami (again).
Here are where his final numbers rank in some of the wide receiver categories in UofL history…
Everytime I update this post, I can’t help but to think “what if?” DeVante missed the first 7 games this season but has still managed to climb up the charts on these records. It has been nothing but a treat to be able to watch Parker these last 4 years. We have 1 last game to enjoy him in a Louisville uniform.
Parker did whatever he wanted on Saturday against Kentucky, catching 6 passes for 180 yards and 3 touchdowns.
1. 299 Arnold Jackson, 1997-00
2. 217 Ibn Green, 1996-99
As we enter the final week of the regular season, here is where DeVante Parker ranks in some of the receiving categories in UofL history. We are only left to wonder “what if” when it comes to these records and Parker, as he missed the first 7 games this season with his foot injury.
1. 299 Arnold Jackson, 1997-00
2. 217 Ibn Green, 1996-99
Back in July, I posted some of the all-time receiving records at UofL and showed where DeVante Parker ranked in those categories. Obviously, there wasn’t any need to update them during the season since he missed the first 6 games. But now since he is back, and back with a vengeance, I figured it would be ok to update the stats now. So here is where DeVante ranks among the all-time UofL greats. Keep in mind, he still has 3 games to play.
1. 299 Arnold Jackson, 1997-00
2. 217 Ibn Green, 1996-99
3. 187 J.R. Russell, 2001-04
It’s only July, but with the Cards officially in the ACC now, that opening football game against Miami on September 1 feels like it’s right around the corner. Because of that, it seemed like a good time to update you on the wide receiver record books at UofL. Senior DeVante Parker has a chance to put his name at or near the top of a lot of lists for the Cards this season. These are only the career lists, but of course he can make his way onto season-leading lists as the season goes on. Let’s see where he stands right now entering the 2014 season.
This week…..on 55…..
