We are officially halfway through the season, and Louisville has surpassed all expectations and become a legitimate College Football Playoff contender. However, Louisville may – or may not – need some help down the road to complete its first ever playoff bid. And with only four teams entering the playoff, the air is going to get incredibly thin at the mountaintop, so it’ll be of interest to see how the nation plays out for Louisville’s CFP campaign.
Here are some teams to watch in the coming weeks that could challenge Louisville’s run to its first ever CFP bid.

On Monday evening, Tavin Richardson tweeted out his top 8 schools. Richardson is a 6’3 and 200 lb wide receiver from Duncan, South Carolina and is listed as a 3-star prospect on the four major recruiting sites. Here is the tweet.
Richardson talked with CSZ Monday night about his list and what he likes about Louisville. He visited the Cards June 3rd on an unofficial visit and came away impressed. “The facilities, the campus, the offense they run, and how I can come in and play early,” Richardson told CSZ. Of the schools in his top 8, he has been to Louisville, Kentucky, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest. He plans to still make trips to Florida, UCF, and attend a football game at Nebraska. As of right now, he doesn’t know where he will take any of his official visits.
We posted an update on wide receiver Desean Blair last night, but as you would expect, there was more news today. Bobby Petrino visited Blair at his high school (Sandalwood) in Jacksonville, Florida. “We talked about school, academics, family, the offense, the defense, his history with good programs, all of that,” Blair said. “I like him a lot. Hes’s a good person and my grandpa and dad like him.”
A wide receiver surely would like Petrino’s offense right? Blair said “He (Petrino) said they get it around a lot. It’s kind of pro style.”
After this past weekend’s visit to Nebraska, Blair said that they (Nebraska) were his favorite. After today’s visit from Coach Petrino, there is no favorite, making this weekend’s visit to Louisville huge. When asked what he is most looking forward to from his visit to Louisville, Blair said “If I feel like I fit in and get along with the staff.”
He also has one more visit after Louisville, and that will be to Missouri on January 31. They have always been in the picture with him a little bit, but started to contact him again when Charlie Strong left.
ESPN lists Blair as a 4-star wide receiver.
Three-star wide receiver commit Desean Blair (Jacksonville, FL) visited Nebraska this past weekend, and liked what he saw. What stuck out the most? “The facilities, the academics and the staff and players,” Blair said. He is still committed to Louisville and will visit the Cards this coming weekend (Jan. 24).
He has said that this weekend’s visit to Louisville will determine where he ends up. So can the Cards show Blair enough to hang on to him? Or did Nebraska do enough to take him away? This weekend should tell us a lot, and we will definitely keep you posted on this.
Blair is listed at 6’4 and 180 lbs and will be a great addition wherever he ends up. At 6’4, he could step in and fill the void that will be left by DeVante Parker.
