If Every Year Of The BCS Was Changed And Played Out Under The CFP

Harry Douglas Orange Bowl

Our guys over at @TheRed_Rage have started their own website as of late and have been doing a lot of cool things. From Boy Meets World discussion groups to daily thoughts to simulations, they have made a great site that has a variety show feel to it. That could be a great thing. Something new in a field of the same ole stories. I talked to the Red Rage about the simulations they had done with the UofL teams vs the past 15 National Champions (I think). We talked at length about how underrated the Orange bowl team was. Great Offense, stellar Defense. All the makings of a high-power team.

Orange Bowl Still Possible for Louisville

Harry Douglas Orange Bowl

It will take winning and some outside help, but the Louisville Cardinals still have a chance to play in the Orange Bowl this season, which is the BCS Bowl that the ACC is tied to. The only poll that matters now is the College Football Playoff Ranking, so that is the one I will refer to. Louisville enters this week ranked 24th.

Now let’s be clear. When talking about the teams that have a shot at the Orange Bowl from the ACC, they would need Florida State to make it into the Playoff, which would open up the Orange Bowl spot for the next best ACC team. Remember, “next best ACC team” just means the highest ranked ACC team. Head to head means nothing, perception of teams means nothing. It is all about who is ranked highest.

Bowl Projections (Week 1)

It is early in the season but apparently not too early to talk Bowl projections. Where the Cards end up may have a lot to do with how quick and well this young man above this heals. With him a position in the playoff is possible with an undefeated season, without him a BCS bowl is still attainable. Either would be great finishes. One thing that is for sure is that a few sites have come out with their projections, here they are.

My message to the fans: Don’t forget to enjoy this season!

Football 2

Now that we have reached the halfway point of our football season, I feel like it is a good time to write this. I have been wanting to do it for a couple of weeks now, but this seems like the right time. As is the case with most of my opinionated posts, I have a general idea of where I want to go with this. But for the most part I am just going to say what comes to mind, and we will see what happens. Hopefully by the end of it, I have gotten some kind of point across. So let’s go…

Louisville’s BCS scenarios

Orange Bowl   Sugar Bowl

By Justin Renck:

This is a great “problem” to have. Orange Bowl or Sugar Bowl? Those are the 2 most likely destinations for the Louisville Cardinals after last night’s incredible win at Rutgers. And of all teams to decide where we probably end up, it will be Kent State. The same Kent State team that lost to Kentucky 47-14! That was their only loss of the season, and now their game tonight against Northern Illinois will determine where the Cards end up. Let me explain…

Which BCS Bowl would you prefer for the Cards?

By Justin Renck:

Ok it’s time to vote! Just having a little fun here. If the Cards are to keep winning and end up in a BCS Bowl, which game would you prefer they play in? I left off the Rose Bowl, because they always take a PAC 12 team and a BIG 10 team. I left off the National Championship because obviously, if that is an option, we all prefer it. Also, I think we started ranked too far back for this year, and the voters won’t allow us to climb that high this season. But anyways, here are your choices. All 3 are possible this year!

Cardinal Rewind: Eric Wood

Eric Wood played for the Cardinals from 2004-2008 and is easily one of the best Offensive Linemen to ever play for Louisville. In 2005, he was named a Freshman All-American and started 12 games at Center. He went on to start in all 49 games that he played in, which is the 2nd longest streak at UofL behind Travis Leffew, who had 51.
He was also Second-team All-Big East in 2006 and First-team All-Big East in both 2007 and 2008.
He then went on and was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the 2009 draft. He was drafted in the 1st round and 28th overall! He has played both Guard and Center with the Bills, and has dealt with injuries in his 3 year NFL career to this point. We talked with Eric about his days at UofL, injuries, and more!

Cardinal Rewind: Brian Brohm

Our latest Cardinal Rewind is with former star Quarterback, Brian Brohm. Brohm is a hometown kid that went to Trinity High School before attending UofL from 2004-2007 to carry on the tradition of the Brohm family at UofL.
