The rims at Ballard High School are still there – Barely – No thanks to Montrezl Harrell. Saturday evening, the Russ Smith Foundation and TBM hosted an event at Ballard High School to benefit the family of Officer Nick Rodman who died in the line of duty. The charity basketball event was headlined by former UofL players like Montrezl Harrell, Terrance Farley, Luke Whitehead & Perrin Johnson, who were on the Metro City Stars team. They faced off against a team of officers from the LMPD. The Metro Starts were coached by Hall of Fame coach Denny Crum and 2013 National champion, Peyton Siva. Paul Rogers was the announcer and CSZ’s own Jeremy Wahman was the celebrity time-keeper. Other people of interest on the Metro Stars team were Russ Smith Sr, Steven Rummage (93.9 The Ville radio personality), Phil Morrison (Asbury), Matt Brown (Program director -93.1 the beat), Charles Franklin (Community Outreach director), Chris Pointer (UL/CSU) and organizer Tim Barnett (Nevada). The game was very friendly for a half. The LMPD officers took a 39-37 lead into halftime. In the second half things started heating up. There was a lot of trash talking as the game stayed very competitive. Highlighted by a few monster slams from Harrell and a few key free throws down the stretch, the Metro Stars pulled our a 81-75 victory. Read the rest of this entry

Of course after the title of the story I am going to serve you this picture first. I was there and still feel chills every time I watch the game. I have been watching it a lot lately. I digress.. I just wanted to do something to help you through the tournament season. How will you handle it? Some people just aren’t gonna watch. Others like Steve will be in full SeaWolves gear tonight trying to talk me into chest bumping every basket. I got up this morning very aware that we weren’t in the tournament so I started to think of some happy times to ease the pain.
Let me start this story off with what I was doing when I found out about Chane. My two best friends from college the second time around are Terrance Farley & Perrin Johnson. T had just texted me the following: Guess what I found??? So I excitedly call him. “What did you find?” I asked. For the past 10 years he has been searching for the gray dazzle-cloth jerseys that Louisville wore in December of 04 vs Austin Peay (Which was T’s 2nd career start). He always said if he ever found it that I could have it. I am convinced that is because he never thought he could find it. 5 years ago he was himself convinced an ex had thrown it away. So I am sure you know where this is going. He told me he found the jersey and was not giving it up, ask Perrin for his. So I text Perrin: Perrin do you still have the gray jersey of yours? “Yes” he replied. I asked him how much could I buy it for. He stated “Not for sale” I was double crushed by my guys.
This week…..on 55…..
You know I normally start out the opening paragraph to 55 with a preview of what im going to talk about then end it with: Well here we go. Once again, I share with you the 55 most ridiculous things I have heard, had to debate, or just thought about this past week. This …..is….55. But this week there is ONE ridiculous thing I have heard this week and it’s our UofL Men’s Basketball team being shafted with a 4 seed. So in that spirit…blah blah blah…this is 55.
1) I am going to start off 55 this week with Men’s tournament atrocity. Louisville is a 2, Wichita is in the toughest region and #25 SMU doesn’t even get in? Who is running this thing?
3) Oh….well, that..um, makes a little more sense then…Carry on
4) I digress
5) They placed us in a region with Duke, Michigan, uk and the undefeated Wichita State Shockers……This has got to be the biggest group of idiots since
7) They knew what they were talking about last year though…..smu
8) Yes I have decided to insert smu for smh in opposition of them being omitted from the NCAA Tourney….sure glad FU didn’t get left out.
9) Wordplay is FUn
10) Moving forward
