Press release from the University of Louisville athletic department:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville and UCF have agreed to a two-year home-and-home football series to be played in 2021 and 2022, Interim Athletic Director Vince Tyra announced on Monday.
The Cardinals will play host to the Knights in Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium on Sept. 18, 2021, and will travel to Orlando on Sept. 17, 2022 to complete the series.
On Monday evening, Tavin Richardson tweeted out his top 8 schools. Richardson is a 6’3 and 200 lb wide receiver from Duncan, South Carolina and is listed as a 3-star prospect on the four major recruiting sites. Here is the tweet.
Richardson talked with CSZ Monday night about his list and what he likes about Louisville. He visited the Cards June 3rd on an unofficial visit and came away impressed. “The facilities, the campus, the offense they run, and how I can come in and play early,” Richardson told CSZ. Of the schools in his top 8, he has been to Louisville, Kentucky, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest. He plans to still make trips to Florida, UCF, and attend a football game at Nebraska. As of right now, he doesn’t know where he will take any of his official visits.
Sports Illustrated put out a list of the Top 25 games in the 2013-2014 season and the Cards only loss of the season made the list. The Cards 38-35 loss to the UCF Knights on October 18th ranked as the 11th best game of the season. While it may not be the best memory for us all I can resepct the fact that of all the great games this season the Cards played in one of the best. Here’s what SI had to say about the game:
11. UCF 38, Louisville 35 (Oct. 18)
Before Blake Bortles and Storm Johnson were household names, they were the sparks of an upstart UCF squad that knocked off then-No. 8 Louisville, a team many assumed would cruise to an undefeated season in the weak AAC. Midway through the third quarter against the Knights, everything seemed to be falling into place for Teddy Bridgewater and the Cardinals, who led 28-7. However, UCF roared back with a rushing score from Johnson and two touchdown passes from Bortles — one to Johnson and a game-winner with 23 seconds left — to stun Louisville at home.
It was instead the Knights who completed an unblemished AAC campaign en route to a Fiesta Bowl victory. – CB
