Today’s game didn’t go according to the script for Louisville. The Cards didn’t live up to their No. 3 national ranking and No. 1 ACC ranking for 3-point defense against the hot-shooting Hokies. But the Cards won in a shootout, of all games by a score of 94-90.
Virginia Tech shot 65% from 3-point range, scored 44 points in the 1st half (the most allowed at home since 2013), and seemed to make everything they threw at the basket; however, it wasn’t enough to beat the Cards. Louisville would extend its lead and seem like they’d run away with the game then the Hokies would answer, but VTech fell a few answers short as Louisville pulled away enough late to keep their ACC title hopes alive.
The No. 8 Louisville Cardinals look to keep their ACC regular season title hopes alive when the Hokies of Virginia Tech take the floor at the Yum! Center today at 1pm, the game can be seen on the ACC Network.
Virginia Tech (18-7, 7-6) enter the game today with their last two wins against Virginia in 2OT and at Pittsburgh, so the Hokies are riding a hot streak. They’re led by senior forward Zach Leday at 15.2 PPG. Other than Leday, the Hokies only floored on other positional player that wasn’t a guard against Pitt, so once again, the Cards will have to stop a guard oriented team.

The ACC Network has been a hot button topic as of late. With the member institutions wanting to make as much money as possible, things are been discussed on just how to attain this goal. One thing that has been discussed in depth is the nine game conference schedule which would be a one game increase. How would that help you may ask? It would be one more game against a school in your conference. More money for your conference schools and if the quality of the league is high, it is another way to build conference prestige. This isn’t the first time that increasing the number of conference games has come up:
The conference last addressed the eight/nine football question at its 2014 spring meetings, and it was a most lively debate, with the status-quo eight prevailing 8-6. Virginia Tech athletic director Whit Babcock, mere months onto the job, voted with the majority, his Virginia counterpart, Craig Littlepage, the minority.

After the Cards win Thursday we found out they would be accepting a bid to the Russell Athletics Bowl in Orlando Florida. This is where the real question comes in: When the Cards line up in Orlando who will be on the other side of the ball? There are 3 realistic expectations here so lets take a look:

FINALLY!!! It is a celebration and also a sigh of relief! The sigh of relief is because of what we are getting out of, and the celebration is because of what we are getting into!
Now I am not going to get into too many facts like TV ratings, conference votes, and all of that stuff. Just going to give my opinion on the situation.
