The following was posted on my Facebook page by my guy Bob Burdi, father of the 100 mile per hour boys. I thought it was share worthy. He talks about the kind of person his son is. From all of the interactions I’ve had with him,  it’s easy to see how both of his boys turned out so well. Great guy. They have represented or university well. Enjoy the read!

Zack Burdi Talks

ZackBurdi

There is no doubt that yesterday’s finish is one that we will never forget. It was heart breaking for us and even more so for the players and coaches. The guy who finished on the mound will undoubtedly feel like the results were all his fault. They weren’t. Baseball is agame of good bounced, bad bounces & just plain weirdness at times.

Zack Burdi is THE best reliever in college baseball and shouldn’t be treated any other way. I haven’t seen anyone being ignorant towards him but I’m sure some were. We all wanted to know what our guy was thinking and feeling. This morning he tweeted:

UofL Baseball Cards: Back To Back Atlantic Champs

baseball

Ok, we didn’t win the division at home this year. Heck, we didn’t even win it during our actual game this year. The fact remains that UofL Baseball has won it’s 2nd consecutive ACC Atlantic Division title. The Cards are good, really good. If you read any of the stories that I have posted this week then you know I have gushed about how good they are. Best lineup overall I have seen and best all around pitching staff I have ever seen. Probably why they are leading the ACC in Pitching and Batting average at the moment. Miami is the only team that scares me in this tournament and knowing we will be on the opposite side gives me some peace. The Cards won game 1 3-1 behind another masterful McKay outing. He once again gave up 0 earned runs and Burdi recorded the save. His worst outing imo all year was because he only struck out 6. Devin Hairston homered, singled in the 2nd run and scored the 3rd. MVP of this game for sure. Game 2 will come to you tomorrow at 1pm and I expect game 3’s time to shift as well by what the announcers were saying tonight. The ACC conference tournament starts Tuesday and will be played in Cary, North Carolina. This is what we have waited for all year, the Road To Omaha.

Around the Bases, May 17th, 2016

20160514_150804

Welcome back to Around the Bases, where we are going to dial in as Louisville baseball is about to begin its anticipated postseason run.

It was another 4-0 week for the Cardinals, as Louisville finished with strong wins at Vanderbilt and swept NC State at home. The wins pushed Louisville (42-10) to a 15-7 record against Top 25 competition, and a staggering 32-1 home record this season. Kade McClure, Brendan McKay and Drew Harrington all secured wins to become the ninth, 10th and 11 pitchers to reach 10 wins in a single season. It’s also the first time in school history that Louisville has had three 10-win pitchers in one season (Louisville had two in 2013 with Jeff Thompson and Chad Green). Senior pitcher Kyle Funkhouser has also won 10 games in a season, posting a school-record 13 wins in 2014.
