This Week In Cardinal Athletics: September 16th-September 21st

Welcome back for another edition of This Week In Cardinal Athletics for the week of September 16th – September 21st. 

#3 Volleyball (7-2): The Cardinals had rough week this with falling to arch rival in blue school Kentucky 3-2. The Cardinal’s Hannah Sherman had a career-high 11 blocks against the Wildcats, adding nine kills and one dig. Outside hitter Payton Petersen logged her fourth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 11 digs. Petersen added five blocks to Louisville’s 18.5 total blocks on the night. 

Up Next: The Cardinals host Western Kentucky at 5:30pm Monday before starting ACC Play on Friday. The Cardinals host Boston College at 7pm Friday & Syracuse at 1pm Sunday.

#12 Men’s Soccer (5-2): Mens Soccer had another rough week this week with falling to Notre Dame 3-0. The Cardinals offense just couldn’t get started behind the Irish defense. Louisville had 6 shots on goals but just couldn’t connect. 

Up Next: Cardinals host Kentucky on ACC Network at 7p Tuesday. Then, they head to Durham, North Carolina to face Duke at 7pm.

Women’s Soccer (9-2): The Cardinals picked up a victory this week over Clemson 1-0. Amelia Swinarski scored the Cardinals only goal in 7th minute. Cardinals defense held Clemson to 0 shots on goal. This victory moved the Cardinals to 8-0 at home this season. 

Up Next: The Cardinals host Miami Thursday at 7pm. 

Field Hockey (5-3): The Cardinals Field Hockey Team had a HUGE week this week. They picked up wins over #14 Ohio State & #15 St. Joseph. Their offense came out to play without scoring their opponents 5-2.

Up Next: Cardinals travel to California to face Stanford on Friday at 8pm
