D Lineman Chris Williams Is Dismissed From The Team

Photo: Chris Williams Twitter

Coach Petrino announced after practice number 1 of fall camp that senior defensive lineman, Chris Williams was dismissed from the team for violating team rules. Coach did not disclose the violation but it was later reported tha he turned himself in after he stole banking information from a few teammates where he stole about $2300 from their accounts.

The 6-foot-1, 292-pound defensive tackle, was going to be a key back up on an already thin defensive line. Depth now becomes a bigger issue for that D line.

The Red Is On the Rise Again

Being a UofL fan has been difficult these last couple of years. Trace it back to October 2015 when news of an unthinkable scandal broke.

Follow the thread to the postseason ban, the war over the Board of Trustees, the horrendous finish to an otherwise successful football season, the audit that found wrongdoing by our former President, the Notice of Allegations, the announcement of the sanctions, and the Yum Center financing deal. All these embarrassments cast a pall over UofL fans and alums leaving us feeling as if the university was unraveling.

Louisville’s Pass Rushers (Video)

Louisville Football at Florida State

Photo: Louisville Athletics

The names you hear coming into this season when talking about pass rushers are James Hearns and Drew Bailey. I would to take this time to remind you that they are both phenomenal players but they will have help. Welcome back Trevon Young. Trevon sat out all of 2016 due to hip surgery but he is back and healthy. Before his injury in the Music City bowl, he had 10 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and 1 interception. Stacy Thomas is as solid as they come. He took over for James Burgess Jr after a terrible targeting call in that infamous Music City bowl. Since then he has been nothing short of amazing. Also look for guys like Chris Williams, Jonathan Greenard, Amonte Caban, De’Asian Richardson and Henry Famurewa to contribute this year. Read the rest of this entry

Last year Louisville was so close to making the playoffs but fell flat on their face in the last 2 games of the regular season. You can blame the O-line, dropped passes, fumbles, effort, coaching or whatever you want but the fact remains that everyone needs to get better. No one has taken that to heart more than Lamar Jackson. Read the rest of this entry
