Tailgate with the Red Rage on Saturday

Red Rage

If you are heading to Atlanta this weekend for the Auburn game (IT’S SO CLOSE NOW!), you may be wondering where you should tailgate. Look no further, because you know you probably want to be apart of the Red Rage Tailgate. But maybe it isn’t for you. I mean it is basically a museum of Louisville Cardinals memorabilia, good music, good food, good drinks, a good time…and so on. If that isn’t for you, well then I apologize. Click below to view a map and see where the Red Rage will be setting up shop. Tailgate begins at 6 a.m. on Saturday!

First AP Poll Released; Cards Unranked

Photo: Tim Haag/CardinalSportsZone.com

Photo: Tim Haag/CardinalSportsZone.com

The Louisville Cardinals will begin the 2015 college football season unranked, and that is just fine by me. Gone are the days where we would look at the schedule and maybe see one ranked opponent that we just absolutely HAD to beat to have any good wins. Now in the ACC, and with a pretty big season opener, the Cards will have plenty of chances to make their way into the top 25.

If you count the teams in the “others receiving votes” section, Louisville technically finds themselves ranked at #32. Like I said, there are chances to beat ranked teams and move up. In the preseason poll, Louisville faces three ranked teams:

93.9 The Ville

On today’s show, we talked about who we would each WANT as the starting QB for Louisville this season. Not who we think it will be, but our preference. I give a terrible answer, but pick somebody in the end. Perrin Johnson joined us, which was a treat. We had our most callers we have had so far and had a great time. Click the soundcloud link below to give it a listed. As always, we are on 93.9 The Ville on Saturday mornings from 10-11 a.m.

CGI Charitable Fundraising in Honor of Ryann Tewell, Steven Vanover & Pete Nochta

Pete Nochta
Dear Friends,

For the fifth year, many of our friends and I are putting on a charity golf tournament in Louisville, Kentucky. Our friends started calling this tournament the “Charlie George Invitational” or CGI, as I have helped lead the tournament each year.

For the past four years, participants of the tournament have donated towards a charity. We are continuing that tradition this year by honoring and supporting the following three charities. Additionally, we are partnering with the Community Foundation of Louisville, the largest organized charitable foundation in Kentucky (www.cflouisville.org), and have created a charitable checking fund called the CGI Charitable Giving Fund.

(1) Ryann Tewell Scholarship Fund through Sacred Heart Academy

(2) Steven Vanover Memorial Research and Scholarship Fund through the University of Louisville JB Speed School of Engineering

(3) Pete Nochta’s GoFundMe Account http://www.gofundme.com/peteslymphomafund (Former University of Louisville Football player who could use our support in his fight with Lymphoma)

***More information about Ryann, Steven and Pete are included at the bottom of this message.

If you caught Rick Pitino’s latest blog on Tuesday, you saw that the head coach dropped some pretty cool information about possibly adding some J.V. games to the schedule.

We are working on playing 10 J.V. games this year. Some will be played at the Yum! Center on game day. It will give guys like Matz, Dillon and Ryan a chance to play major minutes and continue to develop.

A fan’s report: Behind the scenes in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico 8

David Burns is a big UofL fan just like the rest of us. I coach his son, Dawson, in basketball at Holy Cross High School. David, Dawson, and Whitney (David’s youngest girl) went down to Puerto Rico for a few days to watch the Cards in action. But while you are there, you have to do more than just watch basketball. When he asked me what he should write about, I said just make it all about your trip and what you experienced. Everyone else will have game recaps and write-ups, but nobody will have your own experience in a post. And so that is what he gave me. Enjoy!

By David Burns:

Puerto Rico

We visited several areas of the territory. We hiked, zip-lined, and rappelled through the rainforest. If you are in moderate physical shape…you should put one of these tours on your must-do list.
