
Welcome back for another edition of This Week In Cardinal Athletics for the week of September 22nd – September 28th.
#6 Volleyball (10-2): Cardinals’ Volleyball had a busy week to start ACC games this week. The Cardinals took down first took down Western Kentucky to end the non conference schedule at 8-2. Then, the Cardinals hosted Boston College & Syracuse where the Cardinals swept both in forceful fashion. Cara Cresse led the Cardinals defense with 12 kills in victory over the Orange & Payton Peterson led with 13 kills over Boston College.
Up Next: Their first ACC road trip of 2025, where they will face Cal and No. 3 Stanford. The Oct. 5 match against Stanford will be broadcast on ESPN with first serve slated for 5 p.m. ET. Against Cal, first serve is set for 10 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 3.
#12 Men’s Soccer (5-3-1): The Cardinals had down week this week with facing arch rival #18 Kentucky & #16 Duke. Unfortunately, the Cardinals tied with Kentucky 2-2 on Tuesday night & fell to the Blue Devils 1-0. The Cardinals offense couldn’t catch up to both defenses. Ryan Quintos Nicholas Parham scored the Cardinals lone goals this week.
Up Next: Next match will be home against North Carolina on Friday, Oct. 3. The game will kick off at 6 p.m. ET on ACCNX and will celebrate Louisville’s senior class.
Women’s Soccer (10-2): The Cardinals improved to 9-0 at home this season with a 2-0 victory over Miami on Thursday evening. Emersen Jennings Kiley Peat scored in first half to give the Cardinals 2-0 lead going into halftime & the Cardinals defense on the hurricanes provided them with this victory.
Up Next: The Cardinals next match will be on Friday, October 3, when they travel to South Bend to take on #2 Notre Dame. The two teams will square off at 6 p.m. ET and this will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
Field Hockey (5-4): Field hockey had a rough week to start conference play with 2-1 loss to Stanford Friday evening. The Cardinals led Stanford in shots on Goal 5-4 & 4-2 edge in Penalty shots but the Cardinals offense just couldn’t get it past the net. Rylie Wollerton scored the Cardinals lone goal in 2nd period.
Up Next: Conference play will continue on Oct. 3 when No 13 Wake Forest visits Trager Stadium.
